74 th Annual State Meeting North Dakota Family Career & Community Leaders of America State Meeting Information, Registration Packet, & Checklist April 7 9, 2019 Ramkota Hotel, Bismarck, ND Attention: In addition to completing the conference registration form advisors need to complete the online form for name tags (same as last year) and t shirt sizes for each member. (Found on the ND FCCLA website.) Those not completing this form on or before March 15, 2019 will not receive a name tag or t shirt. Registration of Chapters: 4:00p.m. 6:00p.m. Courtyard (ONLY advisors or chaperones are allowed to pick up packets) Opening Session: 6:30pm Dakota Ballroom A. GENERAL CONVENTION REGISTRATION INFORMATION: 1. Use the registration form located on the ND FCCLA website at: This form is used for all persons attending the meeting. This includes: Chapter Advisors Current District Presidents Chaperones STAR Events Competitors Student Teacher (if applicable) Student Volunteers Current State Officers Voting Delegates State Officer Candidates Non Voting Delegates REMEMBER: You are all allotted 1 convention attendee/3 affiliated chapter members OVER and ABOVE those students listed above. **You will also register students for the Knowledge Bowl on this form. 2. COST: $50.00/attendee Please Note: The REGISTRATION DEADLINE is March 15, 2019 Late registration is $55.00/person. Suggestion: If needed, complete two registrations to avoid late fees for all. If there are questions of eligibility, illnesses, etc., don t wait until you have them all and must pay the extra fees for all. No refunds will be given after March 22, 2019. The extra $15.00 is the competitive event fee charged to all STAR Events participants who have not participated at the district level prior to state. To register your chapter for the FCCLA State Leadership Meeting, please return one copy of the registration form and a check payable to ND FCCLA. If no check accompanies your registration form, no packet will be prepared for your chapter. (Please do not send your check to the state FCCLA office). (Please email a copy of the registration form to sweigel@nd.gov) Retain one blank form for possible late registrations. If for some reason, your chapter cannot attend the convention, please return the registration sheet and check will not attend. Please indicate reason for not attending the conference. 3. Registration and Packet Pick Up will open at 4:00pm on Sunday, April 7 and continue until 6:00pm. ONLY chapter advisors or assigned chaperone(s) are allowed to pick up packets. Advisors are asked to complete and bring the Housing Form (located on the ND FCCLA website at: ) to the registration desk at the when checking in. The form provides student names and the hotel where you are staying. 4. The packets will have your name tags, wristbands, voting delegate information, voting delegate ribbons, tickets, etc. These items will need to be distributed to your delegates, before the start of the convention, so allow a few minutes to review and distribute the materials. 5. Chapter Officer Leadership Training: You have the opportunity to sign your chapter officers/leaders up for Real Colors training. The cost is $15.00/student. Students can choose either the morning session or afternoon session. Space is limited in each session and will be on a first come, first served basis. Workshop Description: What color are you? This interactive workshop is designed to help youth leaders identify their own temperaments and that of their peers and teachers to increase communication and decrease conflict. Youth will be better able to reach new levels of effective interaction with others. Are you up for the challenge? Gain insight into your color and that of others to continue to make FCCLA The Ultimate Leadership Experience. 6. HOUSING: 1. Each chapter is responsible for making arrangements for lodging during the conference. The Ramkota Hotel, Bismarck has set aside a block of rooms. Rooms are on a first come, first served basis. Room rate is not to exceed $100.00 + tax per room for a double. Advisors can request a single room at state rates of $84.60 + tax if they choose to room alone. Rooms must be reserved by March 15 th. The current tax rate is 9%. You will need to provide the school s tax exemption number in order to avoid tax. Check with your local administrator regarding procedures. 2. The Expressway Inn & Suites are also offering a convention rate for FCCLA chapters. Rooms at Expressway Suites are $89.95. 3. If you stay at either of the hotels, be sure to indicate that you are part of the FCCLA convention so that you will be eligible for the convention rate. Call 1 701 258 7700, Ramkota and 1 701 222 2900 for the Expressway Inn & Suites. 4. Check in: The Ramkota will once again work very hard to have rooms available at check in (3:00pm). They will do their best to have at least one room available per chapter to store luggage and change for the opening session. B. CURRENT STATE OFFICERS & DISTRICT PRESIDENTS: 1. Housing: State Officers (and select advisors): State Officer rooms are provided by the state association for the evenings of April 6 8 District Presidents: Rooms are provided by the state association for the evenings of April 7 and 8. District Presidents will receive a special schedule of events from the state office before the state meeting. 2. Hotel roommate assignments for officers will be made by the state advisor. The SOs and DPs housing for both Sunday and Monday, will be paid for by the state association. Officers must Page 2 of 6

stay in their assigned room both nights or the state association will not pay for their room. The room will be billed back to the chapter. SO s and DPs MAY NOT SWITCH ROOMS AMONG THEMSELVES. 3. Advisors of officers/presidents will need to make reservations with their chapter members for these nights. C. STATE OFFICER CANDIDATES: State officer candidates are to room with their local chapter delegation. Candidates will have reserved seating for the general sessions and will receive specific information regarding the election process, the location of meetings, and their expected responsibilities via a separate mailing. D. NATIONAL LEADERSHIP MEETING: 1. A brief meeting of members and advisors interested in attending the 2019 National Leadership Meeting in Anaheim, CA, June 30 July 4, 2019, will be held on Monday night, April 8. State STAR Event winners and their advisors are especially encouraged to attend this meeting. Read more about this on the ND FCCLA website at: http://www2.edutech.nodak.edu/fccla/national convention.html 2. Travel World of Crosby will be coordinating the travel, tours and housing. Students and advisors should attend the Monday night meeting to have questions answered. Travel World will also have an exhibit booth during the conference to share information and answer questions. 3. If your students do not qualify to participate in the National STAR Events competition, and want the opportunity to attend the National Leadership Meeting, please consider encouraging them to apply to be a student volunteer at the national meeting. Students are encouraged to exhibit in Spotlight on Projects, participate as a student evaluator for STAR Events, or act as a host during one of the many sessions during this meeting. Contact the state office for more information. E. ADVISOR/CHAPERONE/BUS DRIVER: 1. ALL advisors need to complete the sign up form posted on the website. This online form is submitted directly to our office. The link for the form is located on the ND FCCLA website at: 2. If you have chaperones and/or bus drivers that would be willing to help with convention activities, PLEASE have them sign up using the same form as chapter advisors. 3. It is the state association s belief that delegations should consider bringing 1 adult chaperone to every 8 students attending the meeting. 4. Monday evening, a reception will be held during the member dance time. Advisors will need to assist with chaperoning the dance, and be visible in the halls. F. VOTING DELEGATES: 1. Each chapter is allowed two voting delegates. Voting delegates will vote on North Dakota s state officer candidate(s) and National Officer Candidates representing North Dakota. Because voting delegates assume many responsibilities during the state meeting, there are a variety of meetings that require their attendance. PLEASE refer to the meeting program for specific dates and times. The program will be posted to the website on or before March 31. Please plan to meet with your voting delegates before the state meeting to inform them of their duties and go through the program with them. G. STUDENT VOLUNTEERS: 1. Students who have no other responsibilities at state and are a part of your non voting delegate group can apply to volunteer to help with a variety of activities during the state meeting. Registration is online and is located on the ND FCCLA website at: H. STAR EVENTS/STATE COMPETITONS: 1. All STAR Events and State Competitive Events will take place on Sunday and Monday. STAR Events Coordinators Mary Anderson, Sheyenne at West Fargo Advisor, will be conducting the Lead and Room Consultants briefings and will coordinate all phases of the events. She will be assisted by Stacy Schimming, Lisbon Advisor and Brenda Gullickson, Williston Advisor. 3. STAR Event evaluator and room consultant s assignments for advisors and students will be emailed to all advisors on or before March 10. All evaluators will serve in teams of three, with one evaluator being a student member. No evaluators will be assigned to events where fellow chapter members are competing. I. RULES, DRESS POLICY, AND OTHER RELATED ISSUES: 1. Refer to the handout 2019 Conference Program located on the ND FCCLA website at: J. AFFILIATION: 1. No chapter will be allowed to attend the state convention if their affiliation form and dues are not on file in the National Office. The names of STAR Events participants must appear on their chapter s affiliation form or they will not be allowed to compete. Check your records now, so your students will not be disappointed at their event registration. Dues must be paid on or before March 1 in order to participate in state meeting activities. Page 4 of 6

K. CHILDREN S MIRACLE NETWORK ACTIVITIES DURING STATE MEETING: (See program for more details) 1. For a $1 donation, students and advisors will be allowed to wear jeans and a FCCLA t shirt/polo to all of the activities and sessions on Sunday. 2. (March 1 st ) 2.) submitted the application for JOIN FCCLA Membership Awards? (March 1 st ) (Optional there are four categories to apply for awards. If your membership grew consider filling out the form. It can be found on the ND FCCLA website at: http://www2.edutech.nodak.edu/fccla/pdfs/join FCCLA Award.pdf 3.) submitted the sign up forms for advisor and student volunteers? (March 6 th ) (The student volunteer form for chapter members is optional BUT the advisor sign up is required. Advisors who do not fill out the form will still be assigned additional responsibilities.) 4.) submitted your donation for Ronald McDonald House/Children s Miracle Network? (March 22 nd ) (Remember to send monies to Beth Allen with check made out to ND FCCLA) 5.) submitted your National Officer Candidate Application form to state office (postmarked March 1 st ) 6.) submitted your state meeting registration and include payment? (March 15 th ) (Late registrations MUST include a $5.00 late fee per person) APRIL: 1.) prepared the housing list to hand in at the registration table during state meeting?
