2015 HOLIDAY SCHEDULE The tree is up and lights are aglow It's time to celebrate with folks we know! Please Join Us For Our 8 th Annual Grant- Valkaria Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration Sunday, December 6, 2015 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm At Fisherman s Landing 5795 Highway 1 We cordially invite all Grant-Valkaria residents and families to join us while we trim our tree for all to see. There will be a live tree to decorate, ornaments to sign, music, free homemade cookies, hot chocolate and cider. But best of all don t forget to bring the kids for a special visit from Jolly Olde Saint Nick. Town Hall will be closed for the following holiday dates: Thursday, November 26 th in observance of Thanksgiving Day Wednesday, December 24 th through Thursday, January 1 st in observance of Christmas and New Years. Be an Angel, Give the Gift of Christmas Christmas Season the Town Hall has joined with the Salvation Army to place an Angel Tree in our Lobby. The Angel Tree Program is a program created by the Salvation Army matches low income families with members of the community in order to provide gifts for children and seniors that may not receive gifts without the program. The Salvation Army does face to face interviews to determine eligibility and wish list items and clothing sizes are placed on the Angels for the community to sponsor. Gift List wishes are preferences. Gifts must remain unwrapped and the top two portions of the angel should be attached. All Angel Gifts must be returned by December 2, 2015 to sort and ensure that all children and seniors will receive gifts for Christmas. Waste Pro Holiday Schedule Waste Pro will be observing the following holidays this season: Thursday November 26 h in observance of Thanksgiving, and Thursday December 25 th in observance of Christmas. If your regularly scheduled garbage or recycling collection falls on one of these dates this service will be provided the next regularly scheduled collection day. Grant-Valkaria Holiday Ornaments For the past two years, the Grant Valkaria Community Association (GVCA) has sold Grant-Valkaria-themed Christmas ornaments as a fundraiser. The price of $10 for the 2015 ornament and $5 for the 2014 and 2013 ornaments includes a donation to the GVCA who will purchase the Town s Christmas Tree and is raising funds for additional playground equipment in the park and towards hiking, bicycling, and equestrian trails throughout our Town. The 2014 ornaments and 2013 ornaments are currently available at Town Hall and will also be on sale at the Annual Tree Lighting on December 6th. The 2013 ornament is red and features two sandhill cranes. The 2014 ornament is green features a drawing of Town Hall. The 2015 ornaments will be blue and feature the Grant Grocery Store on them. The 2015 ornaments will be on sale at the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting and will be available at Town Hall as soon as they arrive. Start your collection of ornaments unique to your hometown! The Calvary Baptist Church has been working to provide a food pantry for the hungry and less fortunate every Thursday from 10:00am until noon. Grant Community Center s Children s Christmas Party December 11 th - 7:00 pm Tis the season to be jolly and children anticipating! There will be the Christmas Story play, goodies, and presents for the children. There will also be a visit from Santa! Please bring a non-perishable food item, if possible to help stock the Calvary Baptist Food Pantry! Christmas at the Grant Historical House. Looking for a unique one of a kind Christmas gift? Visit the Grant Historical House (Benson House). Talented volunteers have worked hard and created amazing handcrafted items you won't see anywhere else. The Grant Historical House will be closed from November 13 th through December 2 nd in preparation for the Christmas open house which will be held December 3 rd through December 6 th. FRANCIS Hospice of St. Francis is a non-denominational, independent, non-profit hospice with offices in Melbourne and Titusville. Providing hospice care and support to patients and families throughout Brevard County. Hospice of St. Francis is seeking caring volunteers to provide respite care and companionship to hospice patients and their caregivers throughout Brevard County.
