Welcome to Vandenberg Air Force Base Vandenberg Air Force Base is headquarters for the 30th Space Wing. The 30th manages Department of Defense Space and Missile Testing, and placing satellites into polar orbit from the West Coast, using expendable boosters. Vandenberg is located on California s Central Coast. Vandenberg AFB and Central California residents consider the climate to be mild. The 150 squaremile area between San Francisco and Los Angeles is surrounded by the Santa Ynez Mountains, The Pacific, and ranches of Northern Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties. People park their car, decorate the trunk and put candy in it for the kids. New Year s Bowlin Eve 200 Our bowling alley hosts a fun filled night of bowling, food, and giveaways until the ball drops.
