Exposed is the library s annual art and literature contest for teens, grades 712. This year s theme is Fresh Perspectives. The Exposed Gala will be held at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum. Additionally, the awardwinning artwork will be on display through the middle of December. Teen Film Festival Teens, grab your cameras and create your best film ever! All entries are due to the library by 8:59 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2018. Vibrant, colorful gardens are still possible in these water thrifty times. Learn the power of properly prepared soil and the benefits of mulch, as well as design techniques to create stunning flower beds or pots. Basics of Seed Saving Wednesday, January 24 7:00 p.m. Want to save seeds for next year s harvest but not sure how? Learn the basics of seed saving, including how to save your favorite vegetables year after year. Tomato Gardening Thursday, February 8 7:00 p.m. You could plant from dawn to dusk and still not plant every variety of tomato! Whether you are a novice or a pro, you ll enjoy learning about tomatoes: the many varieties, their culture, diseases and pests, growing in the ground vs. growing in containers and finally, how to use them. These events are provided in partnership with the UCCE Master Gardeners of Orange County. Hands that Touch a Heart: Holiday Cards Saturday, December 2 1:303:30 p.m. Help us come together as one community to create holiday themed cards for local assisted living centers. All ages are welcome and all materials will be provided. Students may receive credit for school community service if they bring their school form. DIY Gift It! Get into the holiday gift giving spirit by creating edible gifts, ornaments, and more to give to friends and family. Free supplies and written instructions will be provided.
