O Fallon Public Library March 2019 Global Warming Demystified! O Fallon School District 90 is partnering with the O Fallon Public Library to bring Dr. Jeffrey Bennett, an astrophysicist and author, to the O Fallon area on March 5, for visits to the schools and a free library program on global warming. Dr. Bennett has written numerous award-winning children s books which have been featured in the Story Time from Space Program. In addition he has authored other critically-acclaimed books for the general public including What is Relativity?, Math for Life, On Teaching Science, and A Global Primer. Global Warming Demystified is the title of his free library program which begins at 6:30 on March 5th. Based on his award-winning book A Global Primer, this presentation will give you the foundation you need to speak intelligently about the science behind global warming, and show you why the solutions to this important problem are ones that people of all political persuasions can agree on. Dr. Bennett s talk is perfect for middle school students and older. For more information or to register, call 618-632-3783 or visit our website at: ofpl.info/globalwarming Teen Book Club Join us March 13th at 4:30 p.m. to kick off our first Teen Book Club meeting! Snacks will be provided and a signed copy of American Born Chinese will be given away as a door prize! Teen Book Club is a great opportunity for teen readers to discover and discuss new and compelling books in a variety of genres! Each month, we will discuss the selected book over snacks, then vote on a title to be read for the following month. Books will be selected from our YA and regular fiction and non-fiction shelves. No library card is required to participate in Teen Book Club. Ages 13-17. Meetings will be held in the upstairs conference room. Pi Day Fun! Celebrate Pi Day, a day honoring our favorite irrational number! The library will be partnering with Sylvan Learning Center, Gia's Pizza and local bakeries for a 1-hour celebration of Pi Day. Activities include investigating facts about Pi, meeting "Sir Cumference," making Human Circles, enjoying Pie Graphs and sampling the local treats we've "rounded up!" For first grade students and older. Thursday, March 14th, 4:30 p.m.
