USER S MANUAL DBX-83

INTRODUCTION The DBX-83 is a sound-operated baby unit that functions according to the PMR-446 principle. As soon as the DBX-83 detects any sound, this will be transmitted on a frequency of 446 MHz. This signal can be received by the parent unit of the Alecto DBX-82 or by other (Alecto) PMR-446 baby monitors. APPLICATION: Used as an additional baby unit: DBX-83 baby units in combination with the Alecto DBX-82 can be used to monitor several babies or spaces simultaneously. Used as a separate baby unit: DBX-83 baby units in combination with any (Alecto) PMR-446 babyphone can be used as a full-fledged baby monitoring system. USER INSTRUCTIONS: Used as an additional baby unit: If you ve purchased this baby unit as an expansion unit for your Alecto DBX-82, you can put this booklet aside. All the functions of this baby unit are also described in the user manual supplied with the DBX-82. Used as a separate baby unit: If you ve purchased this baby unit in combination with another PMR-446 babyphone to use as a baby monitoring system, please read this user manual for all baby monitor functions and the user manual of your babyphone for the receiver functions. 3

USE POWER ON/OFF: Slide the power switch at the right side to the 1 position to turn on the baby unit. Slide this switch to the 0 position to turn off the baby unit. CHANNEL & SUB-CHANNEL: Check whether the baby unit and your babyphone are set to the same channel and sub-channel. Refer to the next page if this setting must be changed in the baby unit. OPERATION: As soon as the baby unit detects any sound, the transmitter is activated and the sound will be transmitted to your babyphone. SENSITIVITY: Use the rotary VOXSENS control at the rear of the baby unit to adjust the sensitivity level. When turned fully anti-clockwise, you set the lowest level, fully clockwise is the highest sensitivity level. 5

You can use this function to e.g. monitor a space where you cannot place the baby unit itself. 7

USER TIPS GENERAL: * Only use the baby unit as an additional peace of mind, it can never serve as a replacement for an adult or human and baby sitter. * Before every use, always check whether the baby unit is functioning correctly. * You are not required to have a license for the use of this baby intercom. The system can be freely applied in any domestic situation. However, an interference-free signal transmission cannot always be guaranteed. * When the unit is not in use, please always switch it off. PLACEMENT TIPS: * Do NOT place the baby unit in the bed with the baby, but maintain a minimal distance of 2 meter between the baby and the baby unit. Make sure the baby cannot touch the adaptor cable. * Do not expose the baby-unit or parent-unit to direct sunlight or humid areas. POWER SUPPLY: Only use the supplied adaptor. Connecting power adaptors other than the supplied adaptors can cause damage to the electronics of the baby unit. RADIO CONNECTION: * The DBX-83 is a transmitter working with radio waves on the 446 MHz band. Its signal transmission can be affected by external influences such as other radiophones, transmitters, wireless phones, etc. When your radiophone is being interfered with or causes interference, simply changing the channel usually solves this problem. * The baby unit has an effective range from up to 3Km. This range can be affected by local conditions such as high buildings, high voltage posts and overhead wires. An optimal range is achieved when the baby unit has a clear sight of the receiver. 8

* The use of this baby unit is permitted in all the countries of the EU. If you want to bring the DBX-83 to countries outside the EU, you should consult the local restrictions on the use of PMR446 equipment. * Don t forget that the signal of the baby unit can also be heard by another 446 MHz baby monitors, radiophones or receivers other than yours. * Never use the baby unit outdoors during thunderstorms. SERVICE & MAINTENANCE: * Only clean the baby unit with a moist cloth. Always remove the adaptor from the wall socket before cleaning. * Prevent water and/or sand from penetrating the baby unit. * Modifying the electronics or antenna of the baby unit in any way is not permitted. Servicing must be performed by professional service personnel. ENVIRONMENT: * When discarding your radiophone, please return it to your dealer. They can guarantee environment-friendly disposal.
