Colorado Gives Day 2012 Giving Report Introduction Colorado Gives Day is an initiative of Community First Foundation to increase philanthropy in Colorado through online giving. Launched in 2010 with remarkable success, the third annual Colorado Gives Day exceeded expectations yet again. In fact, the number of donations through the GivingFirst.org website increased by 32% with a 35% increase in the number of participating nonprofits. Total dollars distributed to 1,246 nonprofits reached $15.7 million, a 23% increase over 2011. Corporate partner FirstBank, seven media partners (see back page) and more than a 1,000 nonprofits joined together to ask Coloradans to give where you live on December 4, 2012. FirstBank contributed $600,000 to be used for the FirstBank Incentive Fund ($300,000), third-party processing fees ($250,000) and prizes ($50,000). In addition, all third-party processing fees were paid by Community First Foundation, FirstBank, and 17 local businesses and foundations, so that 100% of every donation benefited the participating nonprofits. New this year were prizes that used social media and also benefitted nonprofits outside of the Denver metro region. See page 6 for details about 2012 prizes, totaling $75,000.
