Our Lady Peace Wood Buffalo Artist in Residency Open House The Artists working in the Fort McMurray studio for the Wood Buffalo Artist in Residency program invite you to visit their studio every Monday evening from 4:00pm 7:00pm. Their studio is located at the Keyano Theatre and Arts Centre in room AC132. Each week a different artist will be featured. Alberta Drive Park Event - Safari Family Fun Saturday, July 6th from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo Programs invites you and your family on an adventure to Biggs Avenue park for a Safari Themed Family Event! Please see the attached poster for more details. Summer Science Camps at the Oil Sands Discovery Centre We make science fun! The Centre offers themed camps full of activities and experiments in July and August for children ages 4 to 12. Join us for an unforgettable experience! Registration is open, call 780-743-7167, ext. 236 to register. No drop-ins or emails will be accepted. Pre-registration is required for each camp. MacDonald Island Community Art Gallery is showcasing artwork by a group of Latin American artists. Come check out their warm, tropical palettes and speak to the artists themselves! Teen Advisory Board (TAB) Wednesday, July 10 th at 4:30 p.m. The Fort McMurray Public Library is calling all tweens and teens to have their voices heard at the library! The Teen Advisory Board is a volunteer council by teens for teens, facilitated by the Teen Librarian, that meets once a month to discuss how they believe the teen area can make an impact in and out of the library in addition to helping library staff make decisions about what programs and services should be offered to tweens and teens. TAB meets in the Teen Library on the second floor of the library on July 10 th. Free snacks are provided! East Coast Garden Party July 12-13 The East Coast Garden Party 2013 is happening July 12th & 13th at the Syncrude Athletic Club in Timberlea. Doors open at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 12th and 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 13 th. Performing lineup includes Friends of Jack, Wrangler Elisa, Keister Family Fiddlers, Squid, Jimmy Flynn, Ashley MacIssac, Shanneyganock, and April Wine. There are also bouncy castles and, of course, famous East Coast lobster! For more information visit http://www.eastcoastgardenparty.com. Ghana Have Some Fun! Friday, July 12 Come join in the fun on July 12 th for a live/silent auction event that will feature music, dancing and some scrumptious appetizers! Auction items will also be available for online bidding. All proceeds will go towards the Ghana 2013 Playground Project. Help make a difference and have a great time in the process! Culture Network Meeting You are invited to a networking meeting for everyone who would like to participate in the Wood Buffalo Arts and Culture community! This network provides a local forum to discuss ideas, events, challenges and solutions for arts and culture in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. Participants can bring information and share how their group is engaging the arts, history and culture of this region to help unify our communities and grow our cultural understandings. This is an opportunity to come out and meet some fellow creative types interested in connecting. It's also an excellent time to learn more about Arts Council Wood Buffalo and meet some of our interim board members. We hope you can join us from 7 to 9 pm. Please see attached poster. Great Music for a Great Cause! Duo Majoya - organists Marnie Griesbrecht and Joachim Segger - will perform with Fort McMurray's mezzo-soprano Sarah Nieman at a special concert presented by All Saints Church (at the corner of Hardin Street and Franklin Avenue) on Thursday, July 11, at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $30 for adults and $10 for children. All proceeds go to All Saints' organ fundraising campaign. Visit http://www.allsaintsanglican.ca for more information. Our Lady Peace Tickets on sale Friday, July 5 th at 10am. Culture Calls is sent out weekly on Thursday morning. It showcases local art exhibitions, events, concerts, as well as volunteer and funding opportunities, and much more.
