Steps to a Successful Give To Lincoln Day 1. Set a fundraising goal, both financial and tangible (what can we do, or who can we help if we raise $X). 2. Get Creative! 3. Consider hosting a live event. 4. ENGAGE everyone you know to make the ask email, Facebook, Twitter, word of mouth.
Encourage: Asking Personal: Send e-mails to individuals, or call them on the phone, rather than sending mass e-mails. Relational: Help supporters relate by telling stories about ways your nonprofit has made a difference. Concrete: Provide examples of work your organization has done and ways that donations will bring about future good. 21
Encourage: Creativity Host an event on May 16 th. Show donors what you do. Have people donate to your Razoo page on a laptop, iphone, or ipad: host a party or open house invite people into your office start a competition Use photos and captions to tell a story or make a video highlighting the work of your nonprofit. 22
Plan: Pre-Giving Day Now Promote the event in your newsletter and explain on your website that May 16 th is THE day to give to support Lincoln/Lancaster County. Add content to your Razoo page to tell your story (more info on that later). One month before Personally ask top donors and board members to give and talk about the day in regular conversation. Plan marketing and communications to your donors and stakeholders for the next month. Two weeks before E-mail supporters to remind them about the day. Ask them to add May 16 th to their calendar. Finalize volunteer or staff duties for day-of events. One week before Update Facebook and Twitter on a daily basis. Send supporters the GiveToLincoln.com link where they can find your nonprofit page and donate. Encourage them to bookmark this page!

Provide action items to help reach your goal. Utilize Facebook and Twitter Cheer on donors with status updates. Ask questions to generate conversation and community interaction.
Plan: Post-Giving Day Send an email thank you 1-2 days after the event. Tell them how their donation was put to good work and made a difference. Provide updates about your organization how much did you raise? What will you do with these funds? Make it easy for them to stay in touch. Send physical thank you notes to top donors (not receipts-lcf and Razoo will do those) Build life-long supporters and friends of your organization.
