Commander s Report Hello Everyone; Let me introduce myself, my name is April Trevino. I received my membership into the American Legion by serving in the US Army for 10+ years with an honorable discharge. I served during several war/conflict periods. My first volunteer position here at the Dorsey liberty post 14 was the honor guard firing squad, then was elected as your Adjutant which I have been doing for 2 years now and still counting. I also was elected the 2 nd year executive committee woman for 2 nd District representing Post # 14. During the April 2019 election I was elected as your Commander. To my surprise I am the First Woman Commander for Dorsey Liberty Post #14, Lawrence KS. I am honored to be the First Woman Commander and hope I will not be the last. I am looking forward to serving as your Commander this 2019-2020 year. I would like to invite our veterans and legionnaires who live in Lawrence KS to come by Post #14 to look around and for a chat. NOTE: Memorial Day Services will be on May 27, 2019 @ 10 AM at the Veterans Plot, Oak Hill Cemetery. Hope to see you all there. April Trevino, Commander. 1 st Vice-Commander s Report Announcing that Post #14 has a new 1 st Vice Commander his name is Santino Williams. I am sure he will have a report once he settles in to his new job. Thank you, Santino for accepting this position. 2 nd Vice-Commander s Report The BPI cleaning service is no longer working for our post. However, the post has hired a new cleaning team which will be or has already started. Don Weis, 2 nd Vice-Commander Adjutant s Report Membership renewals have dropped off considerable for March and nothing for April as of this date. However, we have had 88% of our 365 members that have renewed for 2019 leaving us only 12% of our membership that has not renewed. If you have not renewed your 2019 membership there is still time to do so. During the 2 nd District Convention which I had attended, it was announced that Dorsey-Liberty Post # 14, Lawrence, KS will be hosting the 2 nd District Convention to be held on March 21, 2020.
