2019 SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION LEGISLATION AB-760 (Cooper) Education finance: local control funding formula: pupil transportation: cost-of-living adjustment and add-on. Based on the latest available data, over $1 billion of general funding is now used to cover the gap between 1980 s funding and 2010 s costs, state wide. AB 760 provides a long overdue COLA adjustment to the 1980s funding levels and provides a proportional increase based on each school districts gap. LOCATION: Set to be heard on Wednesday, April 24 in Assembly Committee on Education.

2019 SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION LEGISLATION SB-328 (Portantino) Pupil attendance: school start time.. Requires middle and high school to start classes no earlier than 8:30 AM. Rural school districts have been exempt. LOCATION: Set to be heard on Wednesday, April 24 in the Senate Committee on Education.

2019 SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION LEGISLATION AB-934 (Gipson) Schoolbuses: video monitoring systems. Require school transportation vehicles to be equipped with a video system. This includes an internal video system for each school bus and an external video system only on those that have a stop-sign arm. LOCATION: Initial hearing postponed. Currently referred to Assembly Committee on Education. SB-371 (Caballero) Schoolbuses: stop requirements. Authorize a school district to install and operate an automated schoolbus video enforcement system and to equip its schoolbuses with an extended secondary stop signal arm that extends between 3 to 6 feet from the side of the schoolbus. Vehicles with extended secondary stop arm cameras shall only be driven on two-lane 2-lane highways and highways in rural areas of the state. LOCATION: Passed Senate Transportation. Waiting hearing in Senate Education.

SCHOOL BUS FUNDS RURAL SCHOOL BUS PILOT PROJECT The Rural School Bus Pilot Program was approved in the October 2018 in the 2018-19 Transportation Equity Project Allocations for $15 million bringing the total funding to date at $55 million.

SCHOOL BUS FUNDS VOLKSWAGEN SETTLEMENT APPENDIX D $423 million allocation of the Volkswagen (VW) Environmental Mitigation Trust (Trust) The San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District will administer the $130 million has been designated for Zero-Emission Transit, School, and Shuttle Buses

SCHOOL BUS FUNDS VOLKSWAGEN SETTLEMENT APPENDIX D California Air Resources Board has Announced the Stakeholder Workgroup Meeting & Public Comment: April 11, Sacramento April 16, Central Valley April 17, South Coast April 23, Northern California April 30, San Diego May 6, Bay Area During the public workgroup meetings, staff will discuss: funding available for each project category, types of eligible project equipment, maximum funding limits, solicitation process and timeline, grantee reporting and operational requirements, and other implementation details.
