For the purpose of this report, Campus Recreation focused on participation as our main indicator of success. Following several years of steady growth in both participation and revenue, Campus Recreation experienced a predictable mix of results in FY 17. Overall participation was strong programmatically, but for the first time the usage at the CRC decreased by 2%. With the addition of Riverhawk Village in FY 18, we anticipate usage growing, but not significantly due to current capacity limitations during the semesters. Campus Recreation had predictable revenue declines in rentals and boathouse income. The current trend will likely plateau in FY 18. The bike shop produced significantly higher than anticipated revenues necessitating a move to a larger and more appropriate space to serve the students. We anticipate most revenue sources to remain consistent or have slight growth in FY 18. Below are some of our most notable achievements from FY 17. Participation highlights Intramural Sports grew by 8% to 6,378 participants. Campus Recreation engaged more faculty/staff than ever before. We had 12,330 facility visits & 1,021 group fitness participations (10% of total). 3 Club Sport teams were regional champions and 6 competed nationally. Bike Shop transactions increased by 98% from 365 to 721. Kayak Center total usage grew by 88% to 2,075; rentals grew by 66% to 1,696. Group Fitness averages increased by 18% from 12 to 14.2 people per class. Exercise is Medicine (EIM) clients increased by 22% to 434 to 528. Personal Training sessions increased by 15% from 1,056 to 1,215. Operations highlights Increased percentage of work study students from 61% to 64% to compensate for minimum wage increase. Part-time staff grew by 5% to 307 employees. Riverview Fitness Center increased usage by 5% to 45,000 scans. 96% of Campus Recreation staff (271/283) were CPR/AED & First Aid certified. Completed 213 Safety Team drills which was a 33% increase from FY 16. #3 TRIRIGA user submitting 260 work orders. Technology highlights Created new racquetball & squash online reservation system and had 2,834 reservations submitted.
