PROVIDING WORLD-CLASS HEALTH CARE

Striving to Be the Premier Health Care System in the Region Imagine if you didn t have access to quality health care in a convenient location. At Ridgeview, we believe offering top providers, great facilities and state-of-the-art medical technology is a necessity for our community. Each day, this mission propels us forward and we continue to invest in you our neighbors and friends. We re an independent, nonprofit, regional health care system that includes three hospitals located in Waconia, Arlington and Le Sueur. Our expansive network of primary and specialty care clinics and programs ensures we deliver the best care where our residents need it the most. To make sure our community doesn t have to travel far for lifesaving treatment, we offer emergency services at Two Twelve Medical Center in Chaska a free-standing 24/7 emergency and urgent care facility and our new Norman and Ann Hoffman Emergency Center in Waconia. We re proud to serve in the southwest corridor, and we re driven to continue delivering world-class health care right here, where you need it the most. You matter here, and we re working hard to prove it each and every day by investing in our community. Mike Phelps PRESIDENT/CEO 1 RIDGEVIEW FOUNDATION

Emergency Services With life s unpredictability, it s crucial to know that families in the southwest metro area have a nearby medical center offering 24/7 emergency care with qualified and dedicated medical personnel to help manage those unforeseen events. Emergency services save and support the lives of more than 33,000 patients annually at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia. Unlike many hospital emergency departments, Ridgeview s wait times are well below the national average. When every second counts and critical decisions are needed, this matters most. With trauma as the leading cause of death in Americans under the age of 44, and the third leading cause of death in Minnesota, Ridgeview recognizes its vital role to care for and manage patients with lifethreatening injuries. Its designation as a Level lll Trauma Center means trauma patients have a better chance of receiving the critical care they need in a timely manner a testament to Ridgeview s exceptional Emergency Department staff and resources. RIDGEVIEW FOUNDATION 2

Cardiology Services The heart does an incredible job every day. Over an average lifetime, the heart beats 2.5 billion times that s one beat per second of every minute of every day. Although it s a powerful organ, the heart is susceptible to disease and trauma. Ridgeview provides a significant value to its surrounding communities, because heart disease remains the nation s No. 1 killer. In 2007, thanks to a generous gift from the Fleischhacker family, Ridgeview introduced a new level of cardiovascular care to the west-metro area with the opening of the Minneapolis Heart Institute at Ridgeview Heart Center. In 2014, Ridgeview expanded its cardiovascular services to include a second catheterization lab with equipment designed for peripheral vascular and interventional radiology procedures. Through a partnership with the Minneapolis Heart Institute a nationally recognized leader in cardiac care patients with common to complex cardiovascular diseases can be treated locally, close to their homes, families and primary care physicians. 3 RIDGEVIEW FOUNDATION

Orthopedic Programs The demand for orthopedic services is at an all-time high and it s expected to continue to climb. One in seven people in the United States have an orthopedic condition that affects quality of life. That s why Ridgeview s physicians are compassionately dedicated to patients and the health of their bones, joints, muscles, ligaments and tendons, or arthritis and osteoporosis conditions. From student athletes to weekend warriors to aging boomers, Ridgeview offers comprehensive orthopedic care to people of all ages and for injuries of all types. Our program is a collaborative effort among orthopedic surgeons from Twin Cities Orthopedics and staff at Ridgeview Rehab Specialties, and features Ridgeview s highly regarded Center for Joint Replacement. When it comes to surgery, experience counts. More than 3,900 orthopedic surgeries, more than 44 percent of total surgical volume, occur annually at Ridgeview Medical Center and at Two Twelve Surgery Center. Both facilities have the latest surgical equipment and surgical techniques, and specialties include knee and hip replacements, shoulder and back surgery, trauma and fracture care. RIDGEVIEW FOUNDATION 4

Cancer Care Ridgeview is committed to developing personal connections with every cancer patient while offering the most advanced approaches to successful cancer treatment. Its accredited, integrated program reflects Ridgeview s dedication to improving survival and quality of life for cancer patients. An average of 500 new cancer cases are diagnosed and/or treated through Ridgeview s Cancer Care services each year. Ridgeview physicians partner with Minnesota Oncology and have experience with virtually every kind of cancer, including breast, prostate, colorectal, lung and lymphoma. Early detection of cancer greatly increases the chances for successful treatment. Two components of early detection of cancer are education to promote early diagnosis and screening. Screening increases the chances of detecting certain cancers early, when they are most likely to be curable. At Ridgeview, patients have access to the latest advances in technology and a multispecialty team approach to ensure they have the greatest chance for recovery. With the range of technology - from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and 128-slice computed tomography (CT) to digital mammography with 3D tomographic capabilities, Ridgeview excels. With breakthrough technology like RapidArc, Ridgeview stays on top. 5 RIDGEVIEW FOUNDATION

Hospice & Home Care Ridgeview s Hospice and Home Care services are among the fastestgrowing segment of patients served by the organization. With longer life expectancy, shorter inpatient hospital stays and the growth of same-day surgery, more and more patients and their families want nursing and rehabilitation services offered from the comfort of home. Each year, Ridgeview Home Care professionals provide assistance to more than 1,000 patients with medical needs that require care be delivered in their homes. Specialized in-home services, all Medicare certified, range from wound care and medication management to nutrition counseling and orthopedic care. More than 2,000 patients of all ages received end-of-life care through Ridgeview Hospice during the last decade. Hospice care is an optional holistic approach for patients in their final stages of life, most often provided at home. The Ridgeview Hospice team diligently focuses on caring for and nurturing patients, families and friends during the last six months of life. RIDGEVIEW FOUNDATION 6

Women & Children Women are career professionals, mothers and caregivers not to mention chief decision-makers when it comes to health care. Ridgeview Medical Center designed the Center for Women & Children with family in mind. It s a convenient choice supporting women s and children s individual health care needs at all of life s stages. Mothers consistently rank Ridgeview as one of the top providers of obstetrical care thanks to its six spacious birthing suites; 20 hotel-like, private postpartum suites; and two rooms dedicated to caesarean births. Our Neonatal Care Unit (NCU) offers the highest level of care in the region, with neonatologists and neonatal nurse practitioners from nationally recognized Children s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, who partner with us to provide critical care for these fragile newborns. Additionally, Ridgeview s Women s Imaging & Breast Center cares for the whole patient from advanced cancer prevention, screening and detection to treatment services. 7 RIDGEVIEW FOUNDATION

Philanthropy is the difference between good and great medicine. Ridgeview Foundation supports Ridgeview Medical Center in its mission to enhance the health of our communities by creating a culture that nurtures the whole person: mind, body and spirit. We simply can t deliver on our promise to provide exceptional health care without your financial support. The generosity of our community allows Ridgeview to make a significant impact in our region. Your philanthropy has provided the critical funding necessary to support important initiatives that advance health care for residents in the southwest corridor, including the Minneapolis Heart Institute at Ridgeview Heart Center, Ridgeview Community Chapel, Birthing Center and Neonatal Care Unit, Communications Center and da Vinci Surgical System. Because of your gifts, we can continue advancing patient care at Ridgeview by offering amazing providers, while also investing in great facilities and state-of-the-art medical technology. Your philanthropy matters here and we appreciate your support. Doug Stasek VICE PRESIDENT RIDGEVIEW FOUNDATION 8
