ELIZABETH LOUISE JENSEN GIRLS INC. SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION APPLICATION DEADLINE: February 15 BACKGROUND: The Elizabeth Louise Jensen - Girls Inc. Scholarship is administered by the Siouxland Community Foundation headquartered in Sioux City, Iowa. This scholarship fund was established in 2003 by family and friends in loving memory of Elizabeth. PURPOSE: The purpose of the scholarship program is to assist members or former members of Girls Inc. (Sioux City, Iowa) in their pursuit of a post-secondary education at one of the following local postsecondary educational institutions: Briar Cliff University, Morningside College, Western Iowa Tech Community College, or St. Luke s College. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Applicants must have a minimum of two years active membership with Girls Inc. of Sioux City, Iowa, since age ten and/or have returned to Girls Inc. as a current volunteer. Applicants must graduate from a Siouxland high school (approximate 20-mile radius of Sioux City, IA) and have achieved a minimum GPA of 2.5 (out of 4.0). SELECTION CRITERIA: Selection of recipients is based on such factors as scholastic performance while in high school, ACT/SAT test scores, school and/or community service activities, work history, leadership, financial need, and essay evaluation. SCHOLARSHIP AWARD: minimum of $500; renewable APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Application must be received by the February 15 deadline. If the deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, the deadline is the first working day after February 15.
