Winter 2019 CANES CONNECTIONS Welcome to the Saint Anthony Catholic School Alumni E-newsletter for Saint Anthony Alumni, Family and Friends. In this issue: We are preparing for 100 years! Upcoming Events Catholic Schools Week Canes Christmas Events & Reunions Class Rep Congratulations Class Pictures A Note from the Principal Dear Alum & Friends, Happy New Year. We just finished our annual celebration of Catholic Schools Week. Students participated in the Souper Bowl where they could wear their team colors for Super Bowl if they brought in a can of Soup! We made angel wings (made with all students thumbprints and 8 th grade handprints) and a Phoenix to share our stories of courage. On Thursday we tested our knowledge on the Bible through the Bible Bowl and we ended the week with our Grandparents Day event. What a great way to celebrate our choice to be in a Catholic School. I am sure you agree that it is a choice that follows you through life in such a positive way. Below is a poem that I think sums up who we are. Please remember our staff and students in your prayers and continue to support our ongoing events and traditions. Wishing you many Blessings for 2019. Catholic Schools Week Saint Anthony Catholic School celebrated Catholic Schools Week during the last week of January. It is an annual tradition that began in 1974. Catholic schools across the nation commemorate Catholic Schools Week with celebrations, special Masses, open houses, and activities for students, the families, parishioners, and community members. Through these events, schools focus on the value Catholic education provides to our students and its contributions to Church, local communities and the nation. This year we held a Souper Bowl on Monday. Students and teachers wore the colors of their favorite team and brought in canned goods. Students also wrote about Why they are thankful for receiving a Catholic Education. On Tuesday our students participated in an Angel Wing project. Wednesday was Student Appreciation Day and students wore their Spirit day shirts and had ice cream. That night grades 1 and 2 held an International night. On Thursday we held a Bible Bowl in the gym. Friday was our annual Grandparents day with a special mass and performances. It was a wonderful week at Saint Anthony Catholic School!
Canes Christmas Connection We held our second Canes Christmas Connection on Sunday, December 15th, for all of our alum and especially for our alumni in college and those looking for jobs or career advice. We had alum from all years attend to welcome our college alum home for Christmas. Special alumni and community professional guests also attended and offered career assistance. This annual event is a wonderful opportunity for our alumni college students and we hope to see the event grow in the coming years. Class of 1970 WHERE ARE YOU?
