Chennault Aviation & Military Museum 701 Kansas Lane Monroe, LA 71203 Nell Calloway, Director 318-362-5540 www.chennaultmuseum.org Students to explore STEM, Mandarin Chinese at Chennault Aviation & Military Museum summer day camp The Chennault Aviation & Military Museum is now enrolling for Chennault Summer Fun Boot Camp. Due to an overwhelming response last summer, the museum is offering more dates and options this year. According to the museum's education director, Tanya Shlosman, STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) sessions will be available for ages 11-15, and Mandarin Chinese language sessions will be available for ages 7-15. Ages 11-15 may enroll in both sessions. The museum is offering intensive Chinese language classes for adults, and adding a Mandarin Chinese component to the summer camps was a natural fit. One goal for these summer camps is to help prepare children for the economic future, says Shlosman. As an aviation and military museum, the Chennault Museum is an ideal place to enrich students' STEM knowledge. We are so excited to be able to offer a foreign language as well. Each session has a limit of 20 students. Fees are $150 for the STEM session, $125 for the Mandarin Chinese language session or $235 for both sessions. Three spaces in each session are reserved for scholarship recipients. Every child should have the opportunity to learn and grow, says Shlosman. Applications, including scholarship applications, are available now at the Chennault Museum or online at www.chennaultmuseum.org. The deadline to enroll is May 1, 2015. The Chennault Museum is located at 701 Kansas Lane in Monroe. For more information, contact education director Tanya Shlosman at 318-362-5540. Funding for the Summer Fun Boot Camps has been partially provided by generous grants from Entergy and the Junior League of Monroe. The Chennault Aviation & Military Museum is operated by Louisiana Secretary of State Tom Schedler and the Friends of the Chennault Museum.

Business Leaders are concerned that additional cuts to higher education will impact the number of skilled and trained graduates for high demand jobs. Further cuts to higher education could critically impact employer s ability to find the future workforce they need to be productive. In addition, the recent growth and development of high skill jobs, especially in health, engineering, IT and Accounting is making it even more difficult for employers to find skilled workers. The meeting will be held at the Monroe Civic Center at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 2. Regional Mayors and the presidents and Chancellors from the colleges and universities in North Louisiana will also be in attendance.
