News for May 15, 2017 Hello RAHS Families- What a beautiful Mother s Day Weekend! I hope you each were able to get out and enjoy the warm sunshine and fresh air. I d like to congratulate the Roseville Schools scholarship recipients. All students receiving scholarships will be recognized at this evening's scholarship program. A special thank you to the many community donors who make this event possible. Your generosity directly impacts the futures of our young RAHS graduates! A reminder that this Wednesday (5/17) is a 1:15 p.m. Early Dismissal Day and Friday, 5/26, is a non-student day for RAHS. Mother s love is peace. It need not be acquired. Girls Track & Field News Congratulations to Allison Weiker, gr. 11, who took first place in the pole vault at last weeks True Team track meet. In her third attempt, Allison vaulted 11 feet in the air to earn first place in this nine school competition. This vault also broke her own previously held school record of 10' 9". Activities Student Council 2017-2018 Applications to be a class representative in next years student council are available from the activities office. Some things to note: each grade will have 8-10 representatives a commitment to attend weekly meetings (Wednesdays at 7 a.m.) is expected these positions are not voted on, but rather appointed after an interview process and written essay Due May 19 Welcome Leaders Applications to be a Welcome Leader this fall are available from the activities office. has responsibilities at 9th grade orientation day and the first day of school for 9th graders. Some things to note: open to current grade 10 and 11 students must be available August 28 and September 5 must be available over the summer for brief communications College & Career News Our district community media center, CTV North Suburbs, is currently doing outreach for Summers @ the Station. There are three 9-week workshops for teens interested in media production this summer, all of which are completely free! Click here for more information about the programs and to register. Also, a member of the CTV team will be in the cafeteria during lunches on Tuesday, May 16. Senior Declaration Day is Tuesday, May 23, in the RAHS cafeteria. We will have an opportunity to celebrate accomplishments and post-secondary choices of our seniors! The celebration will happen from 7-8:10 a.m. and during lunches. Seniors are encouraged to celebrate with their peers and wear apparel that advertises their future plans! As we approach year-end finals, students may be looking for some studying tips. The authors of StudyForth have compiled information about Memorization Techniques. National Practice Test Weekend! Take a free SAT vs. ACT Combo Test and see which exam is right for you. Join Kaplan on May 20 and 21 Live Online to try both tests. Register at Kaplan Test Prep. Students grades 10-12 are invited to participate in Summer Academy for Environmental, Food & Agricultural Sciences at Inver Hills Community College, July 17-21. B West. Since last August, the district has worked with community members and staff members to look at the district s buildings and determine the greatest needs when it comes to issues from security, air quality, roofs, floors, and windows to how the district will address growing space needs with student enrollment projected to grow by more than 1,000 students in the next 10 years. The plan evaluated needs at every school district building. Five key themes consistently emerged from community members and staff members: Safety and Security 5 of 11

Three weeks and counting down to the RAHS All-night graduation celebration! Don t forget to turn your registration forms in. These are the last few days to get tickets at $65. After May 17, the price goes up to $75. Please help us plan by turning them in as early as possible. Volunteer the night before AND the night of the party: We still need MANY more volunteers for the night of the party. We especially need people to help with games and food the night of the party, and decorating the school the night before graduation.
