Employee Bake Sale These employees put on a bake sale for their fellow employees. WE Energies takes pride in providing to the community through their local United Way. Chili Feed Marquette County employees held a Chili Lunch at the County Courthouse building. For $5, one could buy chili, homemade rolls and a dessert all made by Marquette County employees. Time Off Incentive The Upper Peninsula Health Plan encouraged United Way contributions by giving its employees chances to win an extra day of vacation or an extra half-day of vacation. Fifty-six chances were bought at $5 each,with the total collected ($280) earmarked for the United Way. Health plan employees also make individual pledges to the United Way campaign.
Make Your Boss Look Foolish Past United Way President, Chris Vernon motivated the Vernon Company employees to give to the United Way Campaign by allowing them to vote on his dress for the day when they made their pledge. When CEOs become involved in the campaign, even with a simple email blast, statistics show that employee giving increases dramatically. A Benevolent War Great Lakes Center for Youth Development waged a penny war on our behalf! Basket Raffle RTI held a basket raffle. People bid on various baskets that each held different items. Employees got creative and thoughtful. Baskets were varied and held items such as car care products, a kindle fire, a box of baking supplies and a mystery box!
Jeans Day Allow employees to wear denim jeans to work by paying $5.00. Donate the money raised towards the United Way Campaign. BBQ Fundraiser RTI held a BBQ fund raiser. The delicious food generated goodwill and donations for the United Way. Shoot Your Boss WLUC TV6 CEO Rob Jamros was shot with a marshmallow gun for $1 per marshmallow shot. A pie the face or dunk tanks are other great options for workplace bosses with a sense of humor..
Potluck Rummage Lunch MARESA held a potluck lunch and a silent auction, with items all donated by employees. Or have a potluck, white elephant gift, with admission price being one completed pledge form. Each employee brings a dish to pass, as well as a white elephant gift (some useless, ugly, unwanted item you have kicking around your house). Everyone has lunch and a chance to choose one of the wrapped white elephant gifts. AMCAB Brat Fundraiser On one of the coldest days of the year, Amy turns up the heat on her grill to support her United Way. Hot food on a cold day is a good way to beat those winter-time blues, and raise money for your community.

Pick your favorite employee or community member and stick them to a wall for all to see! For $1 per segment have people stick their favorite person up on a wall. Eventually though you should take them down... Kohl s Water Balloon Toss Fundraiser Kohl s of Marquette put on a water balloon toss fundraiser. In this photo Eliza Sicotte tosses a water balloon at Mike Olson. In this event management lets employees and their children throw water balloons at them for $1 a balloon. What better way to cool off on a hot day eh? Younkers Community Days One way to raise money for United Way is to sell Younkers Community Day tickets in November or February when Younkers has their event. For a $5 contribution to United Way, the buyer receives a coupon book worth $10 off an item purchased and other wonderful discounts as well.
Round Up At the Register The Marquette Food Co-op held a Round Up for United Way Month in which customers could round up their bill and donate the change to United Way. It was simple to do and last year raised over $2,500! Coffee Day Area restaurants participate in United Way of Marquette County Coffee Day. Get Creative, Think Outside The Box! Host a Workplace The Voice Contest Conduct an employee singing contest based off a favorite song, band or singer. Employees can form groups and vote for the best singing group by making a donation. The singer or group who receives the most votes will sing a song of choice in front of an audience, all donations go to United Way. Spirit Day Encourage employees to show their alma mater or team spirit by digging into their closets and pulling out letter jackets, team jerseys and old uniforms. Host a United Way meeting or potluck to encourage employees to share & interact. Children s Drawing Contest Ask employees to submit a drawing made by their children 12 years or younger. Charge a $5 entry fee to vote for the best drawings for different age groups. Display the winning portraits as a part of the organizations permanent art collection. Funniest Home Video Contest Have employees bring in or create their own home or work videos. Charge an entry fee at a viewing party and provide popcorn and candy for a viewing. Award movie tickets for the winners of the best video.
Workplace Cookbook Have each employee bring in a favorite recipe to create a workplace cookbook. You can make recipes themed or ask everyone to bring in samples and vote on winning recipes before selling the books. Baby Face Have employees bring in baby pictures of themselves. Other employees can buy ballots listing the photos by number and guess which baby is who. The employee who gets the most correct wins a prize. Team Sports/ Office Competitions Form teams between departments, divisions, or branches and get pledges for each team that wins an event. Provide refreshments RTI Surgical team competitions
