Statements & Search Criteria Mission C3 s mission is to instigate creativity through the exchange of knowledge and ideas. Our vision is for every individual and organization with a creative idea to feel inspired and empowered to take action. We believe creativity has the ability to transform lives, organizations and communities. We celebrate our differences by connecting a diverse cross section of people and ideas. We seek inspiration as the spark that propels us to create. We strive to build a community that shares and celebrates our creative successes. Background C3 is Richmond s pioneering volunteer-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on creativity and innovation. In the early 2000 s, a growing number of global thought-leaders were recognizing the importance of innovation and creativity in competing locally, nationally and globally for economic and personal growth. Inspired by thought-leaders like Richard Florida, Charles Landry and Daniel Pink on how the ability to grow, recruit and retain creative individuals, as well as harness and transform that creativity into new ideas, innovation in the workplace, creative problem-solving and city-making, a group of individuals and organizations founded C3, as the region s creative resource and catalyst. Launched in January 2005, C3 s offers a variety of programming designed to foster, support and celebrate the creative people in Richmond. Impact During the past year, C3 has had several amazing accomplishments:in May, C3 created and launched the 1st RVA Creativity Awards to highlight and celebrate the vibrant creative community of the Greater Richmond Virginia ( RVA ) region. The community responded. We received 114 applications and over 150 people attended the first awards program, which recognized a panel of 10 winners for their creativity and innovation.we created a compelling post-event electronic brochure, which has been a great promotional tool for showcasing the creativity and innovation in the Richmond region long after the event.sixteen talented artists, inspiring entrepreneurs and fearless innovators shared their unique stories (and slides) during talk20's 10th and 11th Editions.C3 Breakfast Club attendees learned about cross-disciplinary approaches to creativity, growing companies, breaking things and constant reinvention.attendees of the C3 ED program, received free legal and professional advice on important topics including copyright law, maintaining lasting partnerships, getting organized and crowdfunding. On January 3, 2015, C3 celebrated its 10th Birthday and started a yearlong celebration of creativity change. Our goals include:launching a new addition to the C3 Breakfast Club series: The C3 Insights to Innovation (I2I) Certification Program, a six-session experiential, innovation boosting program in partnership with Professors Ken Kahn and Matt Woolman of CrossThink, LLC.Hiring a PT employee to help C3 with administrative and program execution tasks.hosting a successful 2015 RVA Creativity Awards, C3 s signature fundraising event, with an increase the number of sponsorships and attendees. In this 2nd year, we are planning some exciting changes including new awards categories and a unique event. Needs Funding: At least $30,000 for a part-time employee to help C3 successfully run our programming.$5,000 for a new website that meets C3 s needs.in-kind:expert advice on developing and implementing a fundraising/development plan.expert advice on board recruitment and succession planning.a strong pool of volunteers. Board Chair Statement C3 is in a unique position of attracting people who value both artistic creativity and business innovation creativity. Our programming is an intentional layering of those interests. The C3 Breakfast Club and C3 ED series empowers with knowledge and resources to use in your personal or professional life, talk20 inspires and motivates with amazing stories from local artists and entrepreneurs and the RVA Creativity Awards highlights and recognizes individuals and organizations make RVA a vibrant creative community. I m very proud that we did all of these programs and events in 2014 as an all-volunteer organization with a budget under $25,000.
