Game Materials Projector Projector Screen Laptop and Speakers Post-It Self Stick Easel Pad (Team s score card) Poster Markers Prizes Rules and Instructions GAME SET UP Set up the projector, screen, speakers and laptop prior to start of event. Divide the audience into two teams, or families. Have each team pick a family name and designate a team captain. Place two Post-It Self Stick posters on wall to keep track of the two teams score. Label each poster with the team s name. GAME RULES Face-Off For each round, the families will designate one contestant to face-off against a contestant from the other team. The first question will be revealed and read. The first contestant to raise their hand gets a chance to answer the question. PAGE 2

If the contestant s answer is on the list of possible answers, then that family can choose whether to play the question out or give it to the other family. If their answer is incorrect, then the contestant from the other team has a chance to answer. The aforementioned rules of getting it right or wrong with the first contestant are also applicable to the second contestant. Family Feud Rounds The family that wins the face-off can decide to continue guessing all of the possible answers to the question, or they can pass it to the other team. Tip: Have the team captain alternate team contestants to allow for whole team participation. If the family decides to play out the question, then they must get all of the possible answers while only getting two or fewer incorrect answers (also called strikes) in the process. If they succeed in doing this, then they get all of the points available for that round (which is simply all of the points for that question). Three strikes allow the other team a chance to steal the points from the answers that have already been revealed. The opponent team has one chance to guess an answer and if it is on the list, then they get the points for their answer plus all of the points from the answers that have been revealed by the other family. If their guess is incorrect, then the original family gets points for all of the answers that they answered correctly prior to getting three strikes. If a team gets three strikes and the opponent team makes a guess, the remaining answers will then be revealed; however, the points for these previously uncovered answers will be not be awarded. Rules for Fast Money Round The bonus round, Fast Money, can be played after the normal rounds have been completed (or when it s time to wrap-up). The Fast Money round does not have a set amount of points assigned to each question, because it only has one answer. It is best to give each answer a substantial amount (i.e.: 50 points) so that the Fast Money round can be a possible catch-up round for the losing family. Families will each pick a contestant to compete in these Fast Money rounds. The family with the most points will get the opportunity to go first. The other chosen contestant from the opposing family will need to leave the room so that he or she cannot hear the questions and subsequent answers. If a family member from the opposing team is caught giving out information to their family contestant, then that family will be disqualified from participating in the Fast Money round. The family member contestant will have one minute to answer a series of questions that only have one specific answer. (Tip: Use the timer on the PowerPoint slide.) The contestant only gets one guess per question. If the answer is correct, the presenter clicks the + sign which is followed by victory music. If they get it wrong, the presenter clicks the X, which makes the strike noise. PAGE 4

Once indicated whether the contestant has answered correctly or incorrectly, click on the next box to reveal the next question. This process continues until time runs out, or until the contestant has guessed on all ten Fast Money questions. ALTERNATE RULES Simplified Ruleset If preferred, use the following alternative and simplified rules as needed. The presenter and the audience work together as a team. Each question will be revealed and then the members of the audience can simply call out answers. When a correct answer is called out, it can be revealed on the PowerPoint. The presenter is encouraged to provide hints as needed, and/or reveal answers to keep the game progressing. Omit keeping score. Omit strikes. Omit the Fast Money round. Distribute prizes to all of the audience for participating. Timed Game Play The objective of a timed game is to gain the most points before the time is up. Tip: Allow for minimum of 15 minutes of play time to maximum of 60 minutes of play time. Follow Game Rules (or Simplified Rules, if preferred). Play until out of time. When the timer goes off, the team with highest score wins. Omit Fast Money round, if out of time. Or save 5 minutes at the end to play the Fast Money round. PAGE 5

Using the Game Board (PowerPoint Presentation) To play the game, play the slide show from the beginning. INTRO The first two slides will play through and send the presentation to the first round (the third slide). To skip ahead of the introduction slides, click the right arrow on the keyboard and the presentation will go to the first round. NAVIGATING THE GAME (POWERPOINT SLIDES) It is important to correctly navigate the slides for each round. Click the show question button (located in the bottom-left corner of the slide) to reveal the question. Read the question aloud as it appears on the slide. While the question appears, the words light up in sequence until the end of the question. Once the last word has lit up, click the hide question button (located in the bottom-left corner of the slide) to show the numbered boxes. The contestants can begin to make guesses as soon as the numbered boxes appear. Click the number that corresponds to the answer given (refer to the answer key). Once a family has control of the round, they will continue to guess. Click the number to the corresponding answer if they get it right. If they get it wrong, click the red X (strike button) in the bottom-right corner. Navigate through the rounds (slides) by using the yellow arrows, located in the bottom left corner. PAGE 6

Sound Buttons Sound buttons are located in the bottom right corner of each slide. Use the cheer or boo button at your discretion throughout the round. Win button can be used if a family correctly guesses all of the answers to the question. Lose button can be used if the family gets three strikes. The silence button cuts off any current sounds. Fast Money Game Board Once the first contestant is ready to start, start the timer (located the top-right of the slide). Once the timer starts, quickly click/reveal the first question for the contestant. (Alternatively, reveal the first question just prior to starting the timer). Reveal and read the questions aloud for the contestant to make guesses. Hit the + button for correct answers and the X button for incorrect answers. Refer to answer key for Fast Money answers.
