Chapter 2 Infantry and Mechanized Infantry Divisions

Transcription:

Special Rules Curse of the Balkankreuz: The white Balkankruez used by the Germans as a national insignia on their vehicles presented Polish Anti-tank gunners with an excellent target spot. Following the end of the conflict in Poland the German revised the positioning of these marks on there armoured vehicles. Polish Anti-tank Gunners receive and additional +1 to Hit German tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles. Fate of the Nation: The Poles knew that they were fighting to save the existance of their country and that the Germans and Russians would do everything in their power to eradicate Poland from the map of Europe. As a result, the Poles fought with a tenacity that the Germans would not face when invading France in 1940. Polish Infantry/Cavalry use the Dogged (p39) and Stubborn (p40) special rules. Limited Communications: The Polish army had not invested in modern signals. Most communication was done by runner, signal flag or helio-graph. Field telephones were used from fixed sites and cables were vunerable to damage from artillery fire. As a result, communications between forward observers and artillery batteries were difficult Amend Forward Observer rule (p39). Forward Observer must maintain unit coherency (within 30cm) of Platoon HQ. Mobilisation: Under pressure from both France and Britain to prevent an outbreak of war, Poland s Armed Forces were forced to delay full mobilisation. By late August 1939, Poland had mobilised 700,000 troops.german activity on her borders caused full mobilisation to be ordered on 30 August. The French embassy pressured Marshal Rydz- Smigly to rescind the call up order. On the 31st August, the border situation worsened and the mobilisation order was put into effect. However, the confusion and delay in mobilisation served only to make Poland s situation worse. By the outbreak of war, 1st Sept 1939, only 65% of Poland s Army had mobilised, with many reservists still in transit. Before deployment, take an experience test for each Platoon Command and Infantry Squad. If the test is failed, the unit removes D3 models (players choice) as troops still in transit. Recalculate the platoon break point following the removal of lost troops. Multiple Turrets: Turrets have 180 degree arc of fire to their respective sides. If turrets are hit, randomize which one takes the hit. Poor fire control: AFV s such as the Italian Semovente and some armoured cars were poorly designed so as to prevent firing on the move or even force the crew to dismount to fire! The vehicle may not move and fire the main gun. Tactically Flexible Lumbering: When issued with a Run order, the vehicle only adds +5cm to its movement. Additional Equipment The platoon may spend a number of Requisition Points (RP) on additional weapons and equipment to be distributed amongst the troops. Soldiers that have been allocated Additional Equipment lose their original weapon. The cost in Requisition Points for each item is listed below. The number of RP s is equal to the Combat Effectiveness of the force plus or minus an amount according to the platoon type as follows: Polish: -6 Kbk wz. 29 1RP BAR (max. of 1)*: 3RP * May only be given to a Rifle Squad.
