I am happy to be serving as your Commander for the 2012-2013 Legion year. I am a 38 year member of the American Legion and previously served as Commander in 1999-2000. I want to thank all of you who have renewed your membership for the 2013 year. It is important to get these dues in early so that we can use our share of the dues to continue our many worthwhile programs. Some of these programs are youth sports, blood drives, visitations at the VA Hospital, Legion baseball, Jr. ROTC and many other important programs. For those of you, who haven't had time to renew, please do so as soon as possible. We want to make our 2013 goal of 312 members. Right now we are at about 80%. Please remember that our Post meetings are held on the second Monday of the month from 7:00 pm to about 7:45 pm. We would like to see more members attending and have their input for what we should be doing in the community as legionnaires. Everybody's efforts make a difference. Hope to see you soon at the Post! Commander, John Nelson President s Message We had a busy fall season and now that the holidays are behind us and winter is really here, I want to wish each of you, and your families, the very best for the coming year. Breakfast with Santa was a big hit last month. We had a good crowd, many children and an awesome breakfast. Particular thanks go out to Linda Madole and Becky Nelson for organizing the whole affair. Thanks! I would also like to thank our past year s Unit President Linda Madole for all her hard work for our unit. Speaking of thanks, thank you, Deb Bayer for all your hard work and dedication to the auxiliary throughout this past year and congratulations to this year s District President, Patricia Swanson. We wish her the very best for this membership year. Our auxiliary meetings are held the second Saturday of the month. They are held at 9:00 am at the Rail Station Bar and Grill, located at 37 th Street and Minnehaha Ave. Thank you all vets for your service and dedication to making this a safer America.
