Case management, information and referral, homemaker/personal care, home health services, nutrition, Meals on Wheels program, housing, adult family care, ombudsmen (advocacy for elderly patients in long term care facilities) and money management program. Nursing home prescreening, protective services, employment opportunities for elders, volunteer opportunities (transportation, shopping and companionship) and transportation resources. Support group for family caregivers of the elderly.

Housing search assistance and homelessness prevention through apartment listings, landlord/tenant mediation, housing code checklist and limited financial aid. Emergency homeless shelter (Louison House). Employment & budget counseling, assistance in obtaining benefits if eligible (food stamps, WIC, housing subsidies). Information & referral for child care, as well as information about free medical and dental services. Also runs emergency food pantry. Volunteers/interns welcome to help with intake and eventually solve client problems with staff guidance. 13) FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH 88 South Street 413-445-4539 Offers a free, hot meal every Monday at 5:30 p.m. for anyone in need. Available from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Thursdays. 19) JEWISH FEDERATION OF THE BERKSHIRES 235 East Street 413-442-4360 Hours: Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. Provides community, educational, social and cultural programs. Also offers kosher lunch program and social services for elders, 60 years and older. Home delivered meals available in the greater Pittsfield area. New social work services program available to homebound, seniors, individuals and families seeking counseling services from a Jewish perspective. (See also New American Citizenship Coalition.)

20) MASSACHUSETTS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSITIONAL ASSISTANCE 75 South Church Street 413-236-2000 P.O. Box 576 Pittsfield, MA 01202 37 Main Street 413-663-1100 P.O. Box 975 Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.- 5 p.m. State-sponsored employment training program for those currently receiving transitional Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC); provides formal education skills training, on the- job training, direct job placement, food stamps and emergency assistance. Child care services are available for those who qualify. Caseworker assistance may involve shelter and housing placement. Also offers Emergency Aid to the Elderly, Disabled and Children (EAEDC) program, which provides cash assistance and limited medical coverage for elderly, disabled individuals without dependent children and unrelated adults caring for children under 18. The majority of recipients of EAEDC are single individuals with short-term disabilities. Those caring for a disabled household member may be eligible as well. 21) PEOPLE S PANTRY St. Peter s Parish Center, Lower Level 413-528-2037 Corner of East and Cottage Streets (Entrance on Russell Street) Great Barrington, MA 01230 Serving South County residents, the People s Pantry offers bags of groceries to anyone in need of food on Thursdays, 11:30 a.m. 1:00 p.m. Please use the lower entrance off Russell Street and do not park in the Center s driveway. 22) ST. JOSEPH'S CATHOLIC CHURCH 414 North Street 413-445-5789 Offers a food distribution program to anyone in need; available at 8 a.m. every Wednesday. 23) ST. STEPHEN S EPISCOPAL CHURCH 67 East Street 413-448-8276 Offers a free hot meal at 5:15 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays to anyone in need. 26) SALVATION ARMY GATEWAY NEW LIFE CENTER (NORTH ADAMS) 393 River Street 413-663-7987 Hours: Food Pantry: Monday - Thursday, 10 a.m. 2 p.m. Sunday Meal: 4 p.m. following Praise and Worship Office hours: Monday Friday, 9 a.m. 4 p.m. Services include emergency transportation, emergency assistance for disaster victims, food pantry, fuel assistance (Good Neighbor Fund, December-April), free bread, free clothing, furniture (when available), senior citizen activities, social recreation, and educational programs for children. Each month SERVE participants can order top quality meats, fruits, vegetables and monthly specials at a savings of 30-40% off the retail price. Cash, checks and food stamps accepted. All are eligible regardless of income.
