Pacific (11-4) is in the drivers seat for the top slot, with defending regular season champion Cal Poly (10-4) and Hawai i (10-5) hot on the Tigers trail. The top two teams will earn byes to the semifinals, while the third and fourth place clubs won t play until the quarterfinals. Two Big West players are on the verge of record-setting careers in UC Riverside s Tre Shonti Nottingham and Pacific s Erica McKenzie. Nottingham s 334 steals is just five shy of breaking New Mexico State s Anita Maxwell s mark of 337 from 1992-96. Nottingham also is on pace to break former teammate Brittany Waddell s free throw accuracy mark. Waddell shot 84.2% from 2006-08;09-11, while Nottingham is currently at 85.7%. Meanwhile, McKenzie is making her mark on the all-time threes made list with 245. That figure places her third all-time and is just five shy of moving up to second place. The record is 271 by former Pacific star Selena Ho from 1998-02. Cal State Fullerton snapped a season-high ninegame losing streak last weekend with an impressive come-from-behind win over UC Davis. The Titans scored 42 second half points and forced a season-best 30 turnovers to turn a five-point halftime deficit into an 18-point victory. The win also snapped a five-game road losing streak for CSF and was its third straight win at Davis. Three Big West clubs are among the nation s best from the free throw line. UC Riverside ranks 24th at 75.3%, UC Santa Barbara is 34th with a 74.5% clip and UC Davis is 37th at 74.2%. The trio are the only clubs in the league shooting better than 70% as a team from the charity stripe. Cal State Northridge has been struggling since mid- January, going just 3-9 over its last 12 contests. The usually stout Matador defense has slipped during that stretch, allowing 60 or more points in nine of those 12 games. CSUN had allowed 60 or more points in just six of the previous 15 games before this slide. Cal Poly s Molly Schlemer had quite the week in helping the Mustangs climb to a half-game of the Big West lead. The junior center averaged 21.0 point, 10.0 rebounds and 2.5 blocks to lead her team to two big wins over Cal State Northridge and Hawai i. She also shot 70.4% from the field, upping her season shooting percentage to a league-best 56.3%. That figure also ranks Schlemer 11th in the NCAA. UC Irvine won its season-best fourth consecutive game last week, a 65-57 triumph over Long Beach State. The Anteaters string is the longest for the club since a five-game run January 5-18, 2012.
