If a student is selected as recipient of the scholarship, the Spark The Leadership Foundation will request that he/she send a copy of his/her Student Aid Report (SAR) to the scholarship committee. Tips for Scholarship Application 1. Read and follow all directions. 2. Proofread your work thoroughly. Check to make sure your sentences are complete, clear and grammatically correct. Applications that are unclear or contain numerous mistakes distract the reviewer from focusing on the content and reflect poorly on the applicant s ability to produce a high quality product. 3. Have someone else read the completed essay. An objective reader can often identify areas that need more explanation and may find errors the applicant has overlooked. 4. Do not plagiarize use your own original writing. If quotes are used please cite appropriately. 5. Be concise. Applications that are clear and concise are more compelling. 6. Encourage the person writing your Letter of Recommendation to type his or her letter and sign it. 7. Carefully review the application checklist below. This does not have to be included with this application, however, the applicant must be able to attain a copy if he/she is awarded this scholarship.
