Page 3 Bugle Newsletter February 2019 Commander s Message Auxiliary President s Message Comrades, Sisters, & Brothers, Greetings to All, Usually I would say, wow, it s already February?!? but, for me, the month of January seemed to be three months long. So, I guess I ll say, Hooray! It s February! This being the shortest month of the year I shall make tribute by writing my shortest article of the year. The Field Day here at the post was a great success, the turn-out was fantastic and we managed to get everything done by opening time. I was soaked from running a pressure washer so I went home right about then but I think most everyone else hung around and enjoyed the fruits of their labor. This was a really important event and I hope we can do these types of things more often in the future. A huge thank you to everyone that was involved, there are simply too many major players in this one to try to thank everyone individually and accomplish my goal of writing a short article. Every meeting we ve had this month has been productive and there are some new ideas coming out for how to make more money for the post. We welcome anyone s input so please, speak up if you have any ideas as to increasing revenue, or general fundraising. Coming up we have our annual Superbowl Party here at the post, on February 3 rd. It s a pot-luck so please make sure to sign-up behind the bar for what you re going to bring, don t be that person that just shows up to eat, that s no fun, bring something. We also have a Valentine s Dinner but we re doing it on Saturday the 16 th so all you love birds can enjoy Valentine s Day together and join your Comrades, Brothers, & Sisters at the Polk Cantina. Like I said, I m keeping it short this month as a tribute to our shortest month. As always, if there is anything that I can do for you or you have any ideas for future events/ fundraisers please don t hesitate to contact me directly, my business cards are all over the post and who am I kidding, I ll never run out. In True Comradeship, Humbly Yours, I can t believe that January is already behind us. Last month was filled with lots of events that kept our very own Ellie Mello, Department President, very busy. Her and Lupe Duggins made a trip to Sacramento to attend and be part of the Voice of Democracy Awards Banquet and the C of A meeting. We also had the official visit by CA State Commander Duncan and Department President Ellie Mello. This included a fun filled Mardi Gras themed banquet hosted by Post 2082, Lemon Grove. A fun time for all! For those who missed our last Auxiliary meeting, it was announced that we hit 100+% membership. This is a great accomplishment for our Auxiliary, and it could not have happened without Patsy and Ellie who put the effort in contacting current members regarding their dues, and those who recruited new members. Thank you! Our Auxiliary breakfast and dinners were a success as always with the help from Joanne Smith, Cindi Lou, George Castro, Tracy Huerta, Brigitte, Pam Everett and her crew. Thank you so much for your continued help and support. February is sure to bring more fun events for all, including a Super Bowl Party Feb. 3 rd, and a Valentine Weekend Dinner of Surf and Turf on Feb. 16th. Check out the February Calendar of Events for dates and times for all that s happening this month. Don t forget our Auxiliary meeting February 14th, 6:30pm. Have a fabulous February! Best Regards, Maureen Casper Auxiliary President 360 for our Veterans & Their Families" Andy Baker Commander, VFW Post 2111
