Prs-Matric, Post- Matric and Merit-cum-Means based Scholarship Schemes is being implemented by the Government of India, with % Central funding. Under these schemes, the scholarships are awarded to the meritorious students from notified minority communities viz. Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Zoroastrians (Parsis) and Jains, pursuing studies in India in. a Government or Private Universities/institutes/colleges/schools..The Central Government has decided to open the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) on st June, 7 for applying online for the scholarships of 7-8. As such, it is incumbent upon this Ministry to initiate the process of issue of advertisement inviting applications and disbursement of scholarships for 7-8 by the State Government/UT Administrations, which shall be implemented as per existing guidelines..the State-wise/Community-wise tentative physical allocation (as per Census ) for Fresh Scholarship in respect of three Scholarship Schemes for the financial year 7-8 is lakh, 5 lakh and 6, for fresh scholarships (Copy enclosed). As far as renewal applications are concerned, there is no target for them and all renewal applications are eligible for scholarship..during 7-8, the online implementation of the Pre-matric, Post-Matric and Merit-cum-Means based Scholarship Schemes will be done through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) of the Government of India, under URL www.scholarships.qov.in. A link to the site is also made available in the website of this Ministry i.e. www.minoritvaffairs.qov.in. In this regard, it is stated that the linkage of beneficiary's identification with UID/Aadhaar number is presently non-mandatory. However, as the Gazette Notification under Section-7 of Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 6 (8 of 6) (with respect to this scheme) has been notified (a copy of Gazette Notification - S.O.8(E) (No.7) dated..7 is enclosed for reference), it will be necessary for the eligible applicants to provide Aadhaar number while applying for^^he
