Seniors Week Festival Community Grant Program 2012 Proudly presented by Page 1 of 11

1 Introduction West Australian Seniors Week Festival is a special time of celebration for Western Australian Seniors. During this week a range of events and activities are held to acknowledge seniors and their contribution in the community. West Australian Seniors Week Festival 2012 is being held from Sunday 11 th November to Sunday 18 th November. The COTA WA, in partnership with LotteryWest and the Department for Communities, invites organisations to apply for funding to assist meeting the cost of hosting events and activities during West Australian Seniors Week Festival 2012. Grants of up to $1000 (plus GST if applicable) are available. 2 About The Grants Program 2.1 Purpose of the Grants The Seniors Week Festival Community Grants Program seeks to provide financial assistance to organisations hosting events during West Australian Seniors Week Festival 2012. Events funded should meet at least one of the aims of Seniors Week, which are; Recognise and thank seniors for their contribution to the community; Challenge negative stereotypes and present a positive image of ageing; Promote the life-course approach to ageing well. This involves encouraging individuals to make decisions and take actions at every stage in their life that will optimize their health and wellbeing into later life. Applications are strongly encouraged for events which target seniors who; Would not normally participate in WA Seniors Week Festival activities; Are at risk of becoming socially isolated; or Are members of Indigenous or Culturally and Linguistically Diverse communities. Applications for funding will be assessed on the extent to which the proposed activity or event meets the Seniors Week Festival 2012 objectives outlined above. 2.2 Who can apply?
