What is it? A Partnership for those who wants to do an extra and common effort for the environment through their procurement. The aim of the partnership is to use public procurement strategically to promote a shift in the market and making a positive impact on the global and local environment. SIDE 3
The Partnership is voluntary and free of charge but binding The partnership jointly develop common binding green purchasing goals which each partner has to implement in their own organizations through planning and procurement. In addition the partners must have a green procurement strategy. SIDE 4
Who are the partners The members of the partnership is: Municipalities: Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense, Herning, Sønderborg, Egedal, Frederiksberg and Gladsaxe Regions: Central Denmark Region State: The Environmental Ministry All Municipalities, Regions and State Institutions are welcome in the partnership! Construction In 2016 25% of new construction should be at least one low-energy class better than legislation requirements. And 100 % by 2018. All partners must set guidelines for environmental and energy-efficient renovation. SIDE 13
Food and catering Purchase of seasonal fruit and vegetables. Minimum 60% of coffee / tea and sugar should be organic or fair trade in the central government. All packages should be free of PVC and phthalates. Mapping of organic food. SIDE 14
Case: The Municipality of Odense builds eco label Kindergarten The aim was to create buildings with better indoor air quality. There were many suppliers who were able to live up to the Swan criteria. Results: It was not more expensive! A house with : good indoor climate low energy consumption where the quality is good where the environmental impact is limited where the use of harmful substances is limited Better indoor climate Lower energy consumption SIDE 15

Why a Partnership? There is no legal requirements in Denmark in the field of green public procurement. It is a voluntary political tool to influence the market in a greener direction while providing products and solutions for the public sector with less environmental and health impacts. A partnership is an obvious possibility, where those who have the will and the interest can get together and thus have greater purchasing volume to make a difference. SIDE 17
