PEARL HARBOR HAWAIIAN CIVIC CLUB E Paepae I Luna Loa I Ka Malamalama Hold High the Light of Knowledge Chartered: April 16, 1964 President s Message Aloha Mai `OKou, If anyone has not noticed yet we have just a few weeks before 2017 is gone. In a few weeks we ll be welcoming 2018, before you can say Jiminy Cricket! the New Year will be here. Our hui has averaged three community projects a month, not including other activities such as Civic Club, Council, Association and Community meetings. We were kept very busy doing craft demonstrations for large companies from around the world that come to Hawai`i s shores for their annual conventions. Recently I was asked to find activities that everyone can be included in. We have been putting our activities in our monthly newsletters. Now if members can keep up with our newsletter items we do include the person to contact and a contact phone number to call. We don t know everyone s personal schedule and the opportunity for you all to get involved is yours. Call us if you have the time and get involved whenever you can insert yourself to assist. I have been learning to do different crafts for over twenty years and it has 2

been OJT (On the Job Training). I don t know of many people who can sit and have classes on a weekly basis without affecting their personal and family life. I want to inform our members that we have several things coming up really fast in 2018. First thing is the Mitchell Pei Award nomination due on Friday, January 5. Second thing is our Installation Luncheon that will be on Sunday, January 14; reserve your seat now. This is our General Membership Meeting for January. Third and last of all is Ali`i Sunday at Kawaiaha`o Church that is on January 28, in celebration of King Charles William Lunalilo. Finally, we are collecting nonperishable items, can goods and health items (tooth paste, tooth brush, bath soap, and more) for Lunalilo Home residents. If you have items that you would want to donate call (808) 479-3273 and I will make every effort to pick up your donated items. Ahui hou, Here s Wishing You all a Healthy and Wealthy 2018!
