I hope your holidays have been Merry and Bright! For me, this time of year is full of reminders. It s a time to reflect on the past 12 months and plan ahead for the upcoming year. It is also a time to relax and enjoy what is most important: Family, Friends, Relationships, Community, and Service. It has been a year since I came to La Costa Oaks as your General Manager. It has truly been an honor to work with your Board and Committee members, as well as being able to meet and be of service to you, the homeowners. A BIG Thank You goes out to my assistant, Jennifer Stephens, for taking care of so many details and organizing all that we do to manage the association. This Community is blessed with great neighbors, great schools, amazing scenery, incredible year-round weather, and the best opportunities for education, advancement, business, and nearly any recreational activity. For me, it is a pleasure to come to work each day and be a part of your community. I am very thankful and enjoy all of this years experiences and new acquaintances, as I plan my year ahead. 2016 will be another great year! Thank you for making La Costa Oaks such wonderful Community! Happy New Year, Carl Weise

What s New for 2016 * Three seats on the Board of Directors for the Association will be elected this year for a two year term. Our volunteer Board of Directors runs your HOA Corporation. As a group, they determine how best to manage the common assets of the community and provide direction for the future. In some ways, La Costa Oaks is like a small city, providing parks, pools, services, recreation, events, street lighting, fencing, governance and hundreds of acres of landscaping. All of this is done to protect, preserve and enhance the value of the community. If this sounds interesting, and you have the ability to work in a group of fellow owners and management to make the best decisions possible, You should consider running for one of these seats. Look for the Call for Candidates mailing in early January. * If you are looking to get involved but may not want to be on the Board at this time, consider this: We need a delegate for each voting district to be elected this year. Each builder neighbor hood is it s own district. Just like the Electoral College system, La Costa Oaks needs a person to cast the ballots for each district. This is a short time investment to make sure that all of the voted ballots will be counted. Please consider volunteering to be elected as a District Delegate. Look for the Call for Delegates in the same mailing. Friendly Reminders: *Please remember to have your holiday lights and displays taken down by January 15th. *Please remember to put your trash bins away and out of sight on the evening of trash pick up. Thank you!

Volunteer for the City's Emergency Response Team "C.E.R.T." CERT Volunteers provide emergency preparedness and response assistance to their neighbors and community. Your Community Needs YOU! Volunteers receive 24 hours of training, including fire safety, disaster medical operations, and light search and rescue. Apply Online (recommended) http://www.volunteerincarlsbad.net Applicants must attend the volunteer orientation Monday, January 4, 2016, 6:30 pm at Carlsbad Safety Training Center. CERT 9 participants will be selected from attendees. CARLSBAD Nine-week Carlsbad CERT volunteer course will be held Mondays 6:30 to 9:30 pm January 25 - April 4, 2016 Carlsbad Safety Training Center 5750 Orion Street, 92010 Class Size is Limited For questions, contact: David Harrison David.Harrison@carlsbadca.gov For additional information, visit: http://www.carlsbadca.gov/cert *2015 International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) Technology & Innovation Global & USA awards winner

Dates to Remember: Architecture Review Committee: If you are doing any work to the exterior of your home or yard, you will want to review the Community Design Standards and fill out the Home Improvement Application. The application will be review by the Architectural Review Committee, this homeowner committee reviews each project for conformity to approved standards for La Costa Oaks. Please contact Carl Weise or Jennifer Stephens in the management office before starting any project. We available to discuss your project and help you determine what, if any, documentation is needed. Please have applications to the office by Friday, December 31st for the January Review Meeting. This committee meets on the first Thursday of each month. Landscape Committee: Meets on the first Thursday of each month at 4:30pm at the Oaks Club. Board of Directors Meetings: Meets once per month, next meeting is 7:00 PM, Tuesday January 19th at the Oaks Club. **SAVE THE DATE** **Watch for the Call for Candidates and Call for Delegates mailing in early January! This year, three seats on the Board of Directors is up for election. We also need to elect one delegate from each voting district/neighborhood.
