Making a big difference to our little patients every single day Tesco & Temple Street Charity Partnership Raising Funds for Life-saving Equipment

6 Patient Monitors Theatre Recovery: Theatre Recovery looks after 8,000 children each year Every child that has an operation & an anaesthetic has to be cared for in Theatre Recovery until the effects of the anaesthetic have worn off The monitors continuously measure patients vital signs e.g. blood pressure, amount of oxygen in the blood and how much carbon dioxide they are exhaling x6 Respiratory Equipment Neonatal Ward: Important equipment which helps our tiniest patients breathe 3 ventilation machines 2 nebuliser kits 1 cardiorespiratory monitor 4 Anaesthetic Patient Monitors ICU Ward: These monitors keep patients safe and comfortable during surgery They monitor heart rhythm, blood pressure, temperature and the patient s level of consciousness x4 Philips Express System Radiology: This piece of equipment offers full patient monitoring for children who come to Temple Street for MRI scans Theatre Recovery looks after 8,000 children each year

GC/MS Machine for Metabolic Lab: The Gas Chromatograph Mass Spectrometer for the Metabolic Lab Used to analysis organic acid in urine Used to quickly and reliably diagnose metabolic orders in children Temple Street is the only lab in Ireland to provide this service Facial Nerve Monitor for ENT/Theatre: Replaced a monitor which was over 10 years old Used in major ear surgery to reduce complications 5 Patient Monitors Metabolic Ward: x5 The monitors allow for more efficient and effective monitoring Ensures greater flexibility when moving patients around the ward 5 New Trolleys - Day Ward: x5 Day Ward replacing cots with new patient trolleys The use of trolleys is better for transporting patients to and from theatre The trolleys are more comfortable for patients due to improved mattress Replacing a microscope which is over 20 years old will greatly aid surgeons during cleft palate & speech operations

Zeiss Vario 700 Microscope for Plastic Surgery: Replaced a microscope which was over 20 years old greatly aids surgeons during cleft palate & speech operations In Ireland about 1 in 3 children have required one or more operations to correct speech. The microscope helps to significantly reduce this number, meaning fewer operations for children, less time in hospital and a better quality of life Amino Acid Analyser: Replaced a 15-year-old machine Tests the whole of Ireland for the signs of rare genetic disorders The analyser is used for follow-up testing where a problem is identified and for new-borns who are acutely ill Used in the management of these metabolic disorders tests on a weekly basis those who have a life threatening form of a metabolic disease Tests ensure patients are following their strict diet, which is amended based on lab results Early screening and diagnosis means that the child is put on the correct diet immediately, in some cases a baby is not fed protein until the results come back from the lab If child with a metabolic disease is not diagnosed early it can cause brain damage & disabilities (i.e. PKU) and can be life threatening (i.e. Maple Syrup Urine Disease) 34 B Braun Pump Systems: 34 pump systems purchased for 5 wards x34 This pump is more efficient and effective in administrating fluids and drugs to patients The pump is used by most of the 145,000 patients who walk through the door e.g. fluids for dehydration These new pumps are: Light weight/clear visual displays Easily transportable; patients can receive fluids and drugs whilst being transported to different departments Capable of administering multiple infusions

Diagnostic Equipment for the Ophthalmology Department: Temple Street is the Centre for Excellence and National Centre for Ophthalmology Hospital sees 15,000 outpatients in the Ophthalmology Department per year Replaced equipment between 12 and 25-years-old Technology is always improving and the new devices implement L.E.D. technology which gives better light to aid eye examinations, also devices have become more portable and utilise modern battery technology allowing ophthalmologists to utilise lighter equipment which can be used for longer The new equipment aids in the detection of cataracts and small pupil imaging without obstructions and greatly helps speed up time spent in the clinics for patients New modern equipment benefits patients and their families by assuring them they are receiving the best possible care utilising the latest diagnostic technologies The reliability of new equipment ensures that equipment is less likely to break down which can result in cancelled clinics, resulting in patients returning for tests at a later date New modern equipment will greatly benefit patients and their families by assuring them they are receiving the best possible care utilising the latest diagnostic technologies

Echo Machine Cardiology Department: An Echo Machine takes an ultrasound of the heart s chambers, valves, walls and blood vessels In 2015, 1534 infants and children required ECHO assessment in Temple Street 42% of these assessments are performed on in-patients and many were patients in ICU Replaced a 5-year-old Echo Machine - the only one in the Department of Cardiology The new equipment allows for the continued delivery of reliable ECHO assessments to both in-patients and out-patients attending the hospital Ensures that patients will avoid having to be transferred to another hospital for assessment New equipment will prevent cancelling of appointments in the Cardiac Clinic Replacement of Photographic Equipment: This new Clinical Photography equipment provides higher quality results from wards and A&E and improves quality of images submitted to clinicians Higher quality images allow for more accurate and effective diagnoses and a higher accuracy in tracking a patients progress during treatment For example, departments such as Dermatology would see improvements in recordings as patients respond to medication and on-going procedures Craniofacial and Cleft patients are recorded with greater accuracy during pre and post op photography, which better predicts future outcomes and procedures This upgrade sees the introduction of videography allowing for better recordings of Physio patients and the recording of training videos for patients and staff on drawing blood, cleaning and using equipment at home and preparing food for patients with serious dietary restrictions
