Be sure to pay attention to application deadline dates!!! 1. Adecco Engineering & Technical Future Engineers Scholarship Scholarship Amount: $2500 Requirements: Applicants must write an essay on the following topic: In June 2011, President Barack Obama noted the nation s lack of qualified engineers and called on the government and businesses to work together to cultivate 10,000 new engineers every year. As someone who is interested in pursuing an engineering education and career, this is certainly exciting news for you. But we want to know what attracted you to the engineering field in the first place. Was it an inspiring individual? A particular project? An intrinsic desire to design and develop new materials? Tell us what motivated you to become an engineer of tomorrow. Visine Students with Vision Scholarship Program Scholarship Amount: $5,000 Requirements: High school senior, must have a 2.8 GPA. The Dawning of a Miracle Scholarship Fund Requirements: Applicant must be a survivor of or a patient currently suffering from a serious chronic illness. Applicant must be a 2012 potential graduate, have at least an 80 grade point average, must have demonstrated leadership skills, demonstrate financial need, be single with no dependent children. Applicants must submit a copy of their SAT/ACT scores, a statement of financial need, high school transcript, essay, and 3 letters of recommendation, statement from attending physician verifying your medical history and current medical situation. Application deadline is April 20, 2012. 4. Savannah section of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Requirements: Applicants must be graduating seniors who are planning to pursue a degree in one of the following fields: Aerospace/Aeronautical/Astronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (provided a specific Aerospace/Aeronautical/Astronautical Engineering degree program does not exist). Please note that programs in Aeronautical Science and Aerospace Science are not relevant degree programs per this scholarship program. Students must submit an application and a 750 word essay on one of their early encounters with aerospace and how this encounter shaped their decision to pursue aviation or space related careers. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. The application deadline is April 20, 2012. 5. Braves/Publix Scholarship Scholarship Amount: $2,000 Requirements: Applicant must have a 3.2 GPA, be accepted to a college/university for the Fall 2012 semester, write a 500 word essay describing the positive impact you ve had in the community, a letter of recommendation, and a list of all extracurricular and community service involvement. Crawford, CLU Scholarship Scholarship Amount: Varies Requirements: Applicant must be resident of the State of Georgia, be a graduate of a High School in Georgia, must enroll in an accredited College or University, grade point average must be 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, class rank must be in top 10%, family annual income must be at or below three (3) times the poverty level (Set by Federal Guidelines). Applications are available in the Guidance Office. The application package must be postmarked no later than Monday, April 2, 2012.

7. Geo Vista Credit Union Scholarship Requirements: Applicant must be a member of the Geo Vista Credit Union or a son or daughter of a member. Graduating seniors must be accepted in an accredited college, university, or vocational school as a full time degree seeking student. The student must have maintained an overall grade point average of a C or better from the current high school. Applicant must have taken either the SAT or ACT. Applications are available in the Guidance Office and the deadline is April 2, 2012. 8. Mu Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Scholarships Scholarship Amount: 5 scholarship opportunities of various amounts are available to graduating Seniors. Students may apply for more than one of the scholarships listed below. Requirements: Mu Phi Chapter Basileus Award: Letter of recommendation from the principal or counselor, 90 or above GPA or Top 20% of graduating class, 500 word essay on What Leadership Means to Me, Resume (focus on leadership involvement), Minimum ACT Composite of 22 or SAT of 1500 (includes writing section). Manhood/Womanhood Achievement Award: Outstanding results on SAT, ACT, and/or overall GPA, 250 word essay on Why is it Important to Achieve My Goals. Fraternity Affiliation Scholarship Award: Letter of recommendation from a financial member of the Mu Phi Chapter, school principal and 3 teachers, 250 word essay on The Importance of an Education in Today s World. Perseverance in the Community Award: Applicant must have completed a minimum of 50 hours of active community service within the past 12 months with certified documentation. Uplift Initiative Award: Applicant must meet established income criteria. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. The deadline to submit applications is April 30, 2012. 9. Hispanic Scholarship Fund Scholarship Amount: Amounts range from $1,000 $15,000 Requirements: Students must have a 3.0 minimum GPA although some programs may require a higher GPA. NHS Scholarship Program Scholarship Amount: $10,000 Requirements: Applicant must be a member in good standing of their school s National Honor Society Chapter. Applications must be obtained from the school s NHS Advisor. 11. Build a Bear Hugable Heroes Contest Scholarship Amount: $7500 Requirements: Applicants should service or activities which demonstrate a commitment to making a change in the community. Savannah State University NIBIB Scholarship Program Scholarship Amount: $4,000 $5,000 Requirements: Graduating senior with a 3.0 grade point average, must enroll as a freshman for fall 2012 at Savannah State University, major in a STEM discipline, interested in STEM Research and Pathway to Graduate School and Research Career, U.S. Citizen. First application deadline is February 29, 2012; late applications will be accepted until May 15, 2012 to fill any spots not filled in first round of selection process. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. 13. Johnson & Wales Scholarships Requirements: If you ve been a member of Junior Achievement, FBLA, or Technology Student Association, there are scholarships available for you at J & W. For details, call 1 800 DIAL JWU. 14. North GA College & State University NGCSU Military Scholarship Scholarship Amount: Offers full coverage of all costs, plus stipend and monthly pay for joining Georgia Army National Guard Requirements: SAT score of 480 Critical Reading and 440 Math and a 3.0 GPA. Requires four years service in GA Army National Guard after graduation as 2 nd Lieutenant. Students cannot be deployed before finishing program. Savannah Alumni Chapter of South Carolina State University Scholarship Requirements: Applicant must have an 80 or higher grade point average, must attend South Carolina State in the fall of 2012, submit 2 letters of recommendation, a 200 word essay, SAT/ACT scores, official transcript. Applications are available in the Guidance Office and the deadline is May 8, 2012.

Call Me Mister Program Scholarship Amount: Various Requirements: Students must attend one of the participating college/universities in South Carolina. Georgia State University Scholarship Amount: Various awards available. Requirements: Typical Presidential scholars have an average SAT score of 1344 and a 3.9 GPA. SunTrust Off to College Sweepstakes 2011 2012 Requirements: Students may register for the bi weekly drawings beginning September 16, 2011. Mercer University Scholarships Scholarship Amount: Various amounts. Requirements: Varies per scholarship. Clemson University Merit Scholarship Scholarship Amount: $5,000 Requirements: Students must have a 1250 (CR and Math only) on the SAT or a 28 on the ACT and be in the top 10% of their class. Georgia Southern University Scholarship Amount: Various awards available. Requirements: Varies for each scholarship. Julian and Jan Hester Memorial Scholarship Program Scholarship Amount: 4 $1,000 scholarships will be awarded. Requirements: Students must enter a 2 or 4 year institution in Fall 2011. Savannah Education Initiative Scholarship Scholarship Amount: Scholarship will cover tuition, fees, room and board, books and a monthly stipend. Requirements: Applicants must have applied and been regularly accepted to Savannah State University, maintain a cumulative 2.5 GPA and must reside on campus. Application deadline extended. Georgia Heritage Federal Credit Union Scholarship Requirements: Parent/Guardian must be a member of a Georgia Heritage Federal Credit Union prior to the application deadline, applicant must be a 2012 graduating senior, must enter an accredited college or technical school as a full time student within six months of completion of high school. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. Application deadline is May 4, 2012. 27. Big Sun Scholarship Scholarship Amount: $500 athletic scholarship. Requirements: Successful applicant will be a high school senior or attending a post secondary institute and currently involved in some sport at that institution OR in the community. Be careful not to let your illness affect your grades, behavior and overall performance. Colleges like to see that you have continued to do well academically and with your behavior. Many employers offer scholarships to their employees or children of their employees. Ask your parents to check with their employer s Human Resources department to find out if any scholarship opportunities exist. Need help in improving your SAT score? Using the access code given on your PSAT results provides you with FREE practice test and individualized assistance in preparing for the SAT. See your Guidance Counselor if you need a copy of your PSAT The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be completed by every senior beginning in January, 2012 (after family s 2011 income taxes have been calculated). On line applications are strongly encouraged. The form can be accessed at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Also, all online applicants (and parents) must have a PIN# in order to access their accounts. Acquire a PIN# at www.pin.ed.gov. The ONLY way to obtain a paper FAFSA is to call 1 800 433 3243 or go online to www.fafsa.ed.gov. None will be issued to schools. The FAFSA is what registers you for possible financial aid and the HOPE Scholarship. APPLY early in 2012!
