Minutes of the Helping People with Intellectual Disabilities Committee Wisconsin State Council Knights of Columbus Saturday, January 12, 2019 Red Lion Paper Valley Appleton, Wisconsin Call to Order: Director Mark Jelinek called meeting to order at 8:03 AM Opening Prayers were prayed. Committee Members present: Mark Jelinek, Director; Chuck Simmons, Advisor; Bob Peters, Green Bay; Greg Sutton, La Crosse; Jim Vogt, Madison; Dan Castle, Milwaukee; Pat Becker, Superior. State Officers and others present: State Deputy Jack Wrbanich; Immediate Past State Deputy, Tim Guski; State Secretary, Pat Reiff; State Treasurer, Mike Tomsyck; State Advocate, John Huttenhoff; State Warden, Corey Coonen. State Chaplain, Cyril Guise was absent. Minutes of the January 6, 2018 meeting were sent to all the committee members to be reviewed and approved. Motion Becker, seconded Vogt; motion carried. Old Business: None Presented. New Business: Discussion of potentially using the ID Committee to distribute information to the District Deputies and Area Coordinators regarding the Special Olympics in each region. The ID Committee accepted the new roles of distribution of the SO information to the membership. Jelinek will review both the SO regional maps and the Districts to align the groups. The ID Coordinators will coordinate with the Regional SO Contacts to get the program information to the membership. Director Jelinek covered the finances of the ID Program for 2018. Total State Grants Payable $175.573.06 Hereafter in the minutes, committee members will be referred to by their initials as follows: Mark Jelinek-MJ; Bob Peters-BP; Jim Vogt-JV; Greg Sutton-GS; Pat Becker-PB; and Chuck Simmons-CS. On Going Commitments: Motion that $12,500 be approved for the Diocesan Special Education Grants thru the Bishops- 5 @ $2,500.

Motion that $10,000 be approved for Badger Camp in year 2 of a 5 year commitment. The following are the grants approved of the 2019 Grant Requests. A total of 70 requests were acted on. 1. Opportunity Center-$10,000.00 for a Minivans. 2. Portal-$4,000.00 for Door Replacement. 3. Headwaters-$4,000.00 for Shredders. 4. SOC-$10,000.00 for Cargo Truck. 5. VARC-$8,450.00 for Shrink Tunnel Machines. 6. Community Work Services-$5,219.95 for Shredder. 7. Hodan-$12,000.00 for Forklift. 8. Wausaukee Enterprises-$3,500.00 for a Van. 9. East Shore Industries-$5,000.00 for a Van. 10. Black River Industries-$3,000.00 for Chairs. 11. ODC-$5,000.00 for Pallet Lift. 12. RISE-$5,000.00 for Pallet Wrapper. 13. ASPIRO-$7500.00 for No Limits Week. 14. Green Valley Enterprises-$3,000.00 for Equipment. 15. Connections Community Center-$1,500.00 for Equipment. 16. Life Navigators-$5,000.00 for Game Nights. 17. Valders High School-$500.00 for Supplies. 46. Ellsworth School District-$574.00 for Trip. 47. Cashton School District-$500.00 for 2 Chromebooks. 48. Curative Care-$2,500.00 for Equipment. 49. St. Patrick s School-$500.00 for a Supplies. 50. Washington County Birth to 3-$500.00 for Supplies. SUMMARY: The total shown in this report include 5 Diocesan Educational Grants totaling $12,500 and $10,000.00 for Badger Camp on year 2 of a 5 year grant. The total of the requests was $504,4894.54 of which $175,573.06 was distributed, and $328,911.49 was denied. 70 total grants were acted on with 50 groups being fully or partially funded. Pat Becker made a motion to approve all Grant Requests as read by Director Jelinek; Greg Sutton 2 nd the motion. Motion carried.

On the motion of the State Treasurer Mike Tomsyck, with 2 nd by State Warden Corey Coonen; the State Officers voted approval of allocations and denials. Motion was made to adjourn the meeting by Dan Castle, 2 nd Pat Becker. Motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 11:50 AM. Respectfully Submitted, Mark Jelinek
