Time flies when you re having fun. Post 77 is hosting the District 4 meeting on Saturday April 6 th, starting at 8:00AM with registration, Coffee & Donuts, meeting starts at 10:00AM at the Club. Lunch will be at the Club. The Legion is preparing Brisket, beans and coleslaw and the Auxiliary is bringing the deserts. There will be Dept. of NM State Officers from the Legion, SAL and Auxiliary at the meetings as well as Legion, Auxiliary and SAL Officers from most of the District 4 Posts. Come out and see what it s all about. We are trying to keep up with all the things that seem to break down such as the doors at the Bingo Hall and at the Club. The key cards we are using are no longer being made so we will need a new system. Someone ripped the old system out of the wall. Yes we know who did it; there is a camera out there. I m just making up my mind whether to file charges with the Police. We are also getting bids on fixing the Club s front door, sidewalk and parking lot so the water will not run into the Club when it rains. Just to let you know where some of our money is going. Our new Post 77 officers are: Joe Frey Commander, Assistant Gaming Manager and Club Manager; Don Harcrow 1 st Vice and Gaming Manager; Garnett Duncan 2 nd Vice, Finance Officer, Raffle Gaming Manager; Bobby Casados Adjutant, Service Officer and Membership Chair; Jimmy McCown Sgt-at-Arms, Chris Brown Historian, Executive Committee, Gaming Cashier and Raffle Officer; George Ervin Executive Committee and Scholarships; Joe Lubara Executive Committee, Asst Club Manager and Gaming Cashier. All but two Officers remained in their offices and all are holding down two or more jobs. You can see why we need Family members to step up. Our Dances are going back to 8:00PM to midnight. See the Club input. Enjoy your Post. Joe Frey, Post 77 Commander Auxiliary greetings A.L.A. members: Hope all are well. We are getting ready for our district meeting which will be held at Post 77 on April 6th. Registration will be from 8am to 10, come early for the coffee and donuts a meal will be severed by the Post, the AUX. will bring deserts. 1

Spring spruce up has been on hold for warm sunny days, as we will be painting putting up new handicap signs. We will be nominating new officers on our next meeting day which is the 2nd Monday on April 8th at 630. Please come and throw your hat in for an office. We need younger people to learn what we so and how they can help. We must have officers or our UNIT WILL FOLD. Contact me at 487=9546 if you know anyone needing hospital beds, walkers, crutches, etc. We are working on getting the lap quits made for the VA Hospital and could use help, If you have a upholstery machine you could lend us or your time it would be very helpful, remember that we do this for our Veterans. I am asking all members to bring in tabs from soda, beer cans to the bingo hall. Please come out on Sunday afternoon and try bingo we volunteer our time and it is disappointing that we have more players from Tucumcari than locals that support us. FOR GOD AND COUNTRY. Gloria Rhoads, ALA Unit 77 President S.A.L Greetings from the SAL: Not much going on the past couple of months. Thanks to all who bought raffle tickets for our fund raiser. We sold all our tickets and gave out with enough proceeds to fund our scholarship. Speaking of scholarship, we will be meeting early in the month of April to review scholarship applications. Please remind seniors to get applications to The Sons of The American Legion by April 1st. We will be electing officers for Squadron #77 at the April 4th regular meeting. Please come out if you are interested in being an officer. Thanks to Bryan, Johnny & Billie for cooking the 4th Friday of the month. Also, again, thanks to Glen, Kim and Justin for assisting on other Friday's during the Month. Apolonio Moe Ramirez Squadron Commander, SAL Club 77 Greetings from your Club: Well the 7:00PM to 11:00PM Dance thing didn t work too well. Seems people were getting off the lake at about 7:00PM. But we had to give it a try. The free Corned & Cabbage, prepared by Garnett Duncan, started about 5:00PM and the Band started at 7:00PM. At that point we had about four people in the Club. By 8:30PM the Club was filling up. Thanks everyone who made it happen. Our April dance will be April 13 th starting at 8:00PM. We want to thank everyone for making Friday Night Family Night a success and all Legion, Auxiliary and SAL who come out to do the cooking, fixing and meat drawing. Job well done everyone. Look for flyers at the Club for the April Dance on the 13 th. Come out and enjoy your Club. Your Club 77 Staff. Adjutant Greetings Legion Family: Wow another Month gone by, and spring has started. Have had a few rains, showers. Here comes the spring flowers, grass and of course weeds. Glad everyone is safe, from the high winds we had and tornado watch we were under. Hope no one any damage. Hope winter is over and we don't have any more cold weather. I'm ready for good warm weather. Want to wish everyone a Happy Blessed Easter, as Easter will be celebrated before the next Newsletter comes out. I'm asking you to keep Legion Family members in your prayers. We have a few Legion 2

members who need your prayers. Keep Archie Lard, Leon Morris, Phil Sandoval, and James Rinestine, that I know of. Not sure whom we have for the Auxiliary, and SAL. Please keep all in your Prayers. As for membership, have had one member. As of 03/20/19 we have 88% membership. Need about 15 members to make 100%. Many of these delinquent members are not active, but we need all members we can get. Every member counts. We had election of officers and most stayed the same. Archie Lard, did not stay on as Executive Committee, for health reasons. As of now we have no Chaplain as Bob Kollar didn t stay on because of work related. Remember we must have officers to function as the American Legion. So if you would like to be an officer, contact Commander Joe Frey, or Adjutant Robert L. Casados. As for the club, we have new bartenders, and they will be checking membership cards. Remember you must have your current membership card and Government photo ID at all times at the club or gaming room on your person. This is State Law. It is their job to check your Card and ID every time you come to club. Please don't give them a hard time. We are lucky at Post 77. At other post, you must go to bartenders and show them both your membership card, ID and also sign in with your card number. Please if you re going to complain, please bring it to meeting, on the 2nd Thursday of every month. Thank you. As for active happening around the American Legion, please remember March29, as Viet Nam Veteran Day. Thank a veteran that day. On April 6, 2019, Post 77 will host the District 4 meeting at 8:00 AM register. It will be for all Legion Family Members. Come join us. In June, we will have the State Convention at Clovis with more celebration for the Centennial. Post 25 is the host post and is also a Centennial Post. Have 16 in the state. More details will be given out and send to Post 77. If you have a student who is a Junior or Senior in High School, now is the time for them to sign up for Boy or Girl State if you are a junior. Contact Judy Casados for Girl State and me for Boy State. More information will be passed out at schools. Remember scholarship for seniors. You can get information at schools, on the Post 77 website, George Ervin, or Judy Casados. UNTIL NEXT MONTH...GOD BLESS YOU VON CON DIOS Robert L. Casados Post 77 Adjutant & Membership Chair ALA Unit 77 Membership Greetings ALA Sisters; h my time is ticking by fast, and ALA unit 77 is still working the many ALA programs. We re coming close to the end of the fiscal year. Many of our unit year-end reports are due to Department Chairman by May 1, 2019. Some even sooner than that date. May is Unit 77 election of unit officers, we need unit 77 auxiliary members to think about running for a unit officers position, the current officers we have now, have been holding these position for some time now, some are starting to get burned out, so please consider stepping up helping out by running for an officers position and participating in the decision making of the unit. How many of you knew that the American Legion is a 100 years old? Yes the American Legion became the largest veterans organization in 1919. The Department of New Mexico and the Centennial Committee just celebrated in Rio Rancho, the weekend of March 15 th and 16 th. A start with a Bar-B- Que at Post 13 in Albuquerque Friday evening. Saturday morning, a parade in Rio Rancho, a Memorial Service, a Meet & Greet for Janet Romero, (New Mexico s own Western Division National Vice President), and a Banquet at Post 118, Rio Rancho. Four members from Logan attended the celebrations, AL Department Chaplain Bobby Casados, ALA Department Chaplain Judy Casados, ALA Department 2 nd Vice President Debbie McClure and Post 77 Legion Rider Chapter 15 President Larry McClure. We all enjoyed the celebrations, the morning of the parade was very cold and windy, but everyone participing endured the cold & wind, same with the memorial service, it was cold, but a very special service, Chaplain Casados, thankfully had a short service, Rio Rancho Mayor Greg Hull presented the 3

Department with 100 year Centennial Proclamation. It was a very special and fun weekend. ALA MEMBERSHIP: Well the auxiliary membership is not faring well, our unit membership goal is 327 paid members for year 2019, to date we only have 205 paid members, we re only at 62.69%. We re 122 members short reaching out 100% paid membership. Each unit and each department have membership goals that we are asked to reach. Over the years, as reported by the National Membership Chairman, the Auxiliary members are getting older and the younger generation is not interested in the organization, so our membership numbers are getting lower and lower each year, throughout the United States. At this time those members that have not renewed their 2019 membership are delinquent members, so any benefits that you quality for, you now have lost. Club manager and staff workers at Post 77 Club, are checking membership cards very closely, it is required that you have your current membership card with you every time you attend Club 77, get use to having your membership card with you. They are checking each and every member even though they know you are a member, checking for membership cards and photo ID is a requirement by State Law. They are not trying to harass members. DATES TO REMEMBER: Upcoming District 4 meeting- Hosted by American Legion Post 77 & ALA unit 77. Saturday April 6, 2019 The call letters from the District 4 Commander and District 4 President have been sent to the local commanders and presidents, it is up to then to get the information out to all the members of post 77 & unit 77. Joint legion family meeting: Start at 10am, registration starts at 8:00AM, after that short meeting, the Auxiliary will hold their own meeting, a meal will be provided for everyone attending the meetings. Come and join these meetings, you will be able to meet department officers and chairman for both the Legion and the Auxiliary, and be able to learn more about the organization and the many programs. Many of the department officer and other district members like coming to the Friday night eats and family games. That s also a good time to meet the department members. Next Unit meeting is Monday April 8, 2019 6:30pm at the American Legion Bingo Hall. Don t forget about the Sunday Bingo Games at the American Legion Hall. Start time is 2:30pm, come early, get a good seat and get your playing cards purchased, and have fun. Until next month, For God & Country Judy Casados, Unit Membership Chairman and Unit Secretary Legion Riders Hello Riders and Legion family. On March 15-17 American Legion Centennial celebration was held in Rio Rancho NM. There we 32 entries in the parade, including 54 bikes.
