(C) VAW 112 began 1991 with uncertain anticipation while in the final stages of workups for the 1991 WESTPAC due ts the January 15 deadline demanded by Unibed States for Saddam Uussein to pull his Iraqi forces out of Kuwait. VAW 112 embarked aboard USS NIMITZ (CVN 68) on 9 January for READIEX 91-1B rehearsing various tactical scenarios with Aiming NINE and Battle GEoup Bravo. On 16 January the first U.S. aiastrike began on Baghdqd and Operation Desert Shield had become operation Desert Storm. VAW 112 with Battle Group Bravo anticipated a deployment order to the Arabian Gulf. During the deployment, VAW 112 demonstrate the enhanced capabilities of the E-2C Plus Hawkeye in the Arabian Gulf.
