Mission & Impact Statements Mission The Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Foundation exists to support the improvement of public education by providing the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System additional funding for the support of programs and initiatives that contribute to student achievement. Background Founded in 1986 as a 501(C ) 3 not for profit organization, the Foundation is a well-established organization created to secure and distribute contributions from individuals, corporations and others in the community interested in supporting students and teachers beyond what tax dollars will provide. We have a 18-member board of directors and work in conjunction with the school system to better align our goals to have a successful school system focused on students. The Foundation is not designed to pick up district needs that tax dollars would normally support (buildings, teaching positions, etc.), but to supplement and enhance meaningful programs and initiatives that contribute to student achievement or may not otherwise be funded. We consider our work the icing on the cake! However; school budget constraints sometimes drive programs we decide to support such as the two most recent programs initiated by the Foundation; The STEM Initiative and the CMC Teachers Warehouse. In the 2009 fiscal year there were major cuts in technology (90% cuts meaning only replacements could take place no new equipment to be purchased for schools) as well as in instructional supplies (75% cuts) for our local school district. We have seven focused programs that are carried out each year in the areas of; student scholarships, teacher/school grants for innovation, 100% Graduation, STEM Education Support (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math),Kindergartner Readiness Initiative, Academic Awards Recognition Program, and Public Education Advocacy & Collaboration. Although we have these programs we continuously work with the local school system to evaluate programs and determine if other areas of support are needed. Impact Bringing the Vision of Student Success to a Reality! Needs The Education Foundation supports students to become college and career ready in Clarksville-Montgomery County. Our most pressing needs this year are as follows: 1. To fully fund a $500,000 endowment to ensure the stability of the organization in order to provide future support for innovative projects. 2. Identify new business partnerships for our high school career academies to ensure students have real-world opportunities; such as internships, guest speakers, and needed equipment (technology) in the following academies; Health Science, Business and Finance, Criminal Justice and Homeland Security, Media Arts and Graphic Design, Agriculture, Gaming and Computer programing and the STEM Academy. 3. New funds and volunteers to continue expansion of our Free Teacher Supply store to provide needed materials and school supplies in all schools. 4. Additional part-time staff support to assist with the coordination of project/program implementation and evaluation. 5. Science, Technology, Engineering and Math support for students. Other ways to donate, support, or volunteer Donors may also mail paper checks and provide in-kind donations and supplies for teachers and schools to: 621 Gracey Avenue, Clarksville, TN 37040.Contact Foundation Office at 920-7928 for a list of in-kind needs.
