Now that we are a 501 (c) 3 charitable organization, we need to tap into the numerous sources of funding that are available to support many of our activities: GermanFest expenses, heritage promotion, cultural/historic preservation, entertainment, neighborhood livability, civic participation, youth activities, education, etc, etc.

If this is something that you might be willing to try--multiple individuals welcome--please let me know. This is a new position with no pre-set requirements--the Board views this as an opportunity to grow and to flourish!!! The German Genealogy Group will meet on Saturday, October 21 (please note change of date!) at 1:30 p.m. in the Dayton Liederkranz Rathskeller. Due to the unavailability of the speaker we will hold a research session which I have renamed from the Work-Share sessions of the past. Please, all those who have in the past served as mentors and those wishing assistance bring all necessary research and your computers. Mentors will hope to start you on your way to discovering your heritage or give you valuable information to try. Meetings with key players in staging the GermanFest Picnic like Five Rivers Metro Parks and Downtown Dayton Partnership continue. We are working on increasing and modifying our footprint for 2018. We know now that we will need some members to step up and take on leadership roles for several critical functions including: Wine/Schnapps Chair, Beer Station Captain (likely several), Additional Pretzel Station.
