Trade Conference This year s Trade Conference will be held on Monday 8 October, 17:30-20:30 Introduction and content Following the EU referendum vote we have experienced a renewed interest in developing deeper trade and investment links with the 53 countries in the Commonwealth. According to the Commonwealth Secretariat in a recently published trade report, countries in the Commonwealth can do a lot more to expand their business activities with the UK and Brexit can clearly act as a catalyst for this renewed strategy. Indeed, the UK government is proactively seeking to agree trade agreements with Commonwealth markets and has pinned a great deal of hope on the success of these negotiations in truly developing its Global Britain initiative. There is no doubt that the Commonwealth can offer a real value proposition for international trade and business development. Many large, well-known international brands are already benefitting from their expansion into the region as are several major country players.
