Check out our new Tucker spirit wear designed by a Tucker student! Spirit Wear can be purchased at the Tiger's Den (school store by Cafeteria 3 during lunch every day. Spirit wear will also be available at Fee Days and at the Back to School Night. A new bench has been placed in the Main Courtyard, just in front of the auditorium, to honor the late teacher Mrs. Cooper. Not only was Mrs. Cooper an exceptional English and photojournalism teacher. She also founded Tucker Swimming.

The Papa John's summer promotion ends soon. Make sure to buy the pizza while it's still summer! The PTSA has been hosting a Papa John's fundraiser all summer long. Order online from any Papa John's in the Richmond area by going to www.papajohns.com and enter the group code 1TIGERNATION. Papa John's will donate a portion of all sales made during the summer to the J. R. Tucker PTSA. Additional coupons for pizza are also available on our website! You are invited to a SILENT AUCTION FUNDRAISER to help a group of talented students from our internationally recognized drama department raise money to perform at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland- the world's largest arts festival! The drama silent auction is on THURSDAY, August 25 from 6-9 pm at Crossroads Art Center located at 2016 Staples Mill Road. This will be a nice opportunity to catch up with your friends while supporting a very worthy cause. The PTSA is now on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. Be sure to follow us for the most up-to-date information!

Opportunities to Get Involved Membership It's that time again. Both students and parents can join the PTSA. Your membership supports PTSA programs including the PTSA Scholarship Program, Party All Night (The After Prom Party), the student bookstore & spirit wear, teacher grants, student aid & outreach, faculty hospitality, the PTSA website, PTSA meetings, and the monthly newsletter. If you are interested in becoming a member, simply fill out _the membership form_ (on our website at jrtuckerhsptsa.com) and submit it to the main office with an $8 payment for an individual or $25 for a family. Tiger's Trust Individuals and families assist the PTSA by annually contributing generously to its main fundraiser, the Tiger's Trust campaign, now in its 11th year. Parents and students are asked for a one time, tax-deductible contribution to the J. R. Tucker PTSA. All contributions used to benefit Tucker students, teachers, and staff. Please remember, no amount is too small. Several companies in the immediate Richmond area offer matched contributions, so please list your employer to potentially double your contribution. If you would like to make a donation, please print and fill out the donation form from the website, place your contribution in an envelope marked "Tiger's Trust," and send to your student's homeroom teacher or send an email to the Tiger Trust chairperson at tigerstrust@jrtuckerhsptsa.com. To thank you for your generosity, the first 25 donors toward each level will be awarded a thank you gift. The details are listed on the form. If you don't receive your prize at our PTSA table on Fee Day, your student can go to the student bookstore in Cafe 3 during lunch. Volunteering for Parents and Students Students: If you need community service hours, we need additional help for Refresh and our annual Folder stuffing. Please contact volunteers@jrtuckerhsptsa.com. Parents: To volunteer for the PTSA, please pick up a parent volunteer form from the main office and return it to the main office. There are several options- one of which will likely suit your interest and schedule. Currently, our greatest need is volunteers to staff the school store during lunch and after school. Parent and Student PTSA Representatives Needed Students: To become a student representative, fill out the form and return it to the main office. Parents: Open positions for parents on the PTSA board - President Elect, 1st VP for Programs, PAN coordinator, Cultural Arts liason, and the Volunteer coordinator Herrity House Donations Herrity House is a year round donation program that collects items for our Tucker community. Most donations are gently used clothing and toiletries, but some household items will be accepted. Currently, the most urgent supplies needed are nice professional clothes for the parents to wear to interviews as well as everyday clothes for children of all ages. Items are free and distributed based on the greatest need! Simply drop off your donations in the main office with the label 'Herrity House.' The main office does not issue receipts, but one can be requested through an email to jrtuckerptsa@gmail.com.
