Bethel Christian Academy Trojan Talk October 2017 Grandparent s Day - NEXT FRIDAY October 20 8:15a-11:45a We are inviting the Grandparents of our K4 through 5 th graders to come and join us for a special day. If your Grandparents are unable to attend, invite a special friend to be their Grandparent for the day. BBQ Pork Plates - Tickets on Sale NOW Friday, October 27 11:00a-1:00p BCA Dining Hall (Eat-in or Take-out) The Athletic Department and the Senior Class will be having their annual BBQ sale on Friday, October 27 th. The plates will include: BBQ Pork, Slaw, Potato Salad, Hushpuppies, and Dessert. Ticket Price: $8.00. Tickets can be purchased from any athlete, senior, or in the school office. Deadline to purchase: Friday, October 20 th. Cakes for the BBQ Sale We need cakes for the BBQ sale on Friday morning, October 27 th. If you can provide a cake or two, send a note to your child s teacher or call Mrs. Cunningham in the school office at 522-4636, ext. 223 or email mcunningham@bethelfwb.com. The cakes for the BBQ Sale must be sliced and individually wrapped. Please send the cake slices to the school by Thursday, October 26 th. Looney Jars We need your help with our Fall Festival K5 Loonie Jar booth. We would like for each family willing to participate to send one or more quart jars filled with one kind of goodie (new items). Examples: Reese s cups, M & M s, pickles, popcorn, marbles, flower seeds, small toys, pens, etc. Use your imagination! Festival goers pay with tickets and draw for a Loonie Jar. Bring your jars to the school office by Thursday, October 26 th. Fall Festival Friday, October 27 Make plans now for our Fall Festival at Bethel. There are many opportunities to help your child s teacher prepare for this exciting event and make it a success! Contact your child s teacher for more information. Invite your family, friends, and neighbors to come have fun at our Festival. Health Concerns CAKES for the CAKE WALK The first grade will have a Cake Walk booth at our Fall Festival. If you would like to provide a cake or pie, please contact Mrs. Creekmore (kcreemore@bethelfwb.com or Mrs. Edwards (sedwards@bethelfwb.com) no later than Tuesday, October 24 th. Candy Please bring 1 bag of individually wrapped candy to be used at the Harvest Festival. Please leave it with your child s teacher or the school office by Wednesday, Oct. 25 th. We are asking that children who are sick be fever free or nausea free for at least 24 hours without medication before returning to school. This will help to prevent the spread of viruses to classmates and help students who have been ill 2 Inclement Weather Reminder Information will be sent out by Renweb (phone call, text and/or email). Please make sure all phone numbers and emails are up-to-date in Renweb. For inclement weather days or early closings tune to: WAGO 88.7 WITN TV7 WNCT TV9 WCTI TV12 In the media, look for Bethel Christian Academy-Kinston. We do not necessarily follow Lenoir County school procedures.

Pie Baking Contest The Junior class will be sponsoring a Pie Baking Contest at the Fall Festival. Information for the contest are included with this Trojan Talk. If you have any questions, you may contact Jane Croom by email jcroom@bethelfwb.com. TRUNK or TREAT Tuesday, October 31st Bethel Church is hosting a Trunk-or-Treat on the front lawn of the church Tuesday evening, October 31st. Bring your family and invite your friends and neighbors. This event is open to the entire community. Closed Campus Reminder Below is the policy for Closed Campus as stated on page 19 of the Student Handbook. BCA operates a closed campus. This means that attendance is required from the regular start of school until the normal dismissal time. Any free periods a student might have are to be spent in an assigned area on campus. Students will not be permitted to go off campus to run errands. Upcoming Events BBQ Plate Sale October 27 11:00a-1:00p Fall Festival October 27 Life Action Summit November 5 th - 12 th No student is to be on school property at any time without adult supervision. This includes the gym, playground, and classrooms. Since we are a Closed Campus, students will not be permitted to leave campus during lunch time. The students are required to remain in the cafeteria during the lunch break each day. Please let your child know they should not request permission to leave for lunch. Requests to check-out during lunch will only be granted to students when deemed necessary by the parent and the principal for special/unusual circumstances or emergencies. Seniors are allowed to eat off campus on Wednesdays as a senior privilege. 3

Fall Festival Tickets Avoid long lines and buy your tickets NOW to play games at our Fall Festival. Tickets for the games can be purchased now by filling out the information below and returning the form with the money to your child s teacher. You may purchase as many tickets as you wish. The tickets will be sent back home by the next day. There is no cost to attend the festival. We will have some of your favorite games. The prices for the games will range from 3 tickets to 6 tickets.
