TU NATION As we prepare for a new academic year, our student-athletes have set their sights on great accomplishments in the classroom and on the fields and courses of play. The foundation you have generously helped create for our student-athletes and the Golden Hurricane athletic program is tremendously appreciated. If not for your unwavering support, we could not have enjoyed the success we have become accustomed to from our athletes and teams. Thank you! With your gift to the Golden Hurricane Club, you have made a decision to support athletics at The University of Tulsa. Your support makes a difference in so many ways for our student-athletes and to our community. Thank you for contributing to help make our student-athletes successful at TU. I encourage you to continue to support our TU family in any of the following ways: Join the Golden Hurricane Club with a minimum annual gift of $50. Increase your membership to the next giving level of the Golden Hurricane Club. Increase your membership by at least 10% from last year and join the 110% Club. Support TU student-athletes in competition by securing your season tickets. Encourage your family, friends and co-workers to do the same! Again, I thank each and every one of you for your commitment to TU Athletics and the Golden Hurricane Club. Go TU! GOLDEN HURRICANE CLUB MISSION The mission of the Golden Hurricane Club is to financially support the athletic and academic endeavors of all TU student-athletes by fostering the growth of philanthropy from TU alumni and friends who share our passion. The Golden Hurricane Club, through a strong and active membership, provides The University of Tulsa with critical funding to help meet the rising costs associated with operating a top collegiate athletics program. As the primary fundraising arm of TU Athletics, the Golden Hurricane Club strives to provide every TU student-athlete with the opportunity to realize a world-class athletic and academic experience. As the cost of intercollegiate athletics continues to rise, the resources necessary to maintain a quality athletics program continue to escalate as well. The University of Tulsa remains committed to providing the greatest opportunity for our student-athletes to excel academically, athletically and in the community. WHY GIVE The Golden Hurricane Club enhances the student-athlete experience by providing resources for student-athletes, operational needs and program expenses across The University of Tulsa s 17 intercollegiate teams. Gifts to TU Athletics sustain the success of Golden Hurricane studentathletes and coaches, and strengthen the reach of our institution on a national and global scale. Tuition, fees and endowment income only cover about 69 percent of the total cost of a TU education. The rest comes from private gifts. Alumni and friends who choose to contribute to the Golden Hurricane Club each year help meet the university s ongoing need for flexible, unrestricted income to support our academic mission. By joining the Golden Hurricane Club, you are directly supporting the young men and women competing today for TU. No matter where your passion or interest lies, when you invest in the student-athletes at The University of Tulsa, your gifts help TU continue to grow as an incomparable place of the highest level of academia and athletics. WAYS TO SUPPORT TU ATHLETES Annual GiFTS Annual gifts to the Golden Hurricane Club provide the resources and support to TU Athletics that allows the department to compete for conference and national championships. These annual gifts come in a variety of forms including donations for priority seating, parking and sport enhancement giving. Individuals who make annual gifts to the Golden Hurricane Club receive priority points and are eligible for benefits according to their membership level. Golden Hurricane Club member benefits are highlighted on page 8. Capital GIFTS Capital gifts are contributions made outside your annual Golden Hurricane Club donation and play a pivotal role in the enhancement, construction and maintenance of first-class athletic facilities. Planned Gifts A planned or deferred gift can offer you substantial tax and estate planning benefits, while allowing you to make a lasting impact on TU Athletics. Planned gifts to the Golden Hurricane Club can be made through charitable trusts, gift annuities, bequests, life insurance policies and more. Endowed GIFTS Endowments through Golden Hurricane Athletics are the gifts that keep giving. For TU Athletics, endowments are a source of perpetual financial support. They allow the athletic department to meet some essential needs of operation including student-athlete academic support, coaches and athletic department personnel salaries, facility enhancements and game day operations. Matching Gifts You can increase your level of giving by combining your contribution with matching funds from your employer. Depending on your employer s matching gift policy, your donations towards TU Athletics could be increased one to three times for every dollar you contribute. If your employer will match gifts to TU Athletics, please enclose your employer s form with your contribution or submit it online. 4

Donor Spotlight: Jake Alexander The Blue Chip Young Alumni Program is a great entry point for those of us who are transitioning out of college and into the working world. It allows me and other recent graduates to give back a small piece of what the university has done for us! Jake Alexander, a 2014 graduate of The University of Tulsa has been a friend of the Golden Hurricane since he suited up for Tulsa Football as an Offensive Lineman beginning in 2010. Jake continues to make his home in Tulsa, and is now a territory manager for InMode Aesthetic Solutions. Recent TU graduates (2014-2018) have the opportunity to join the Golden Hurricane Club BLUE CHIP young alumni program at a special reduced rate by becoming a Blue Chip Young Alumni member. Young alumni may choose any membership level at 50% off the minimum giving amount while still receiving full benefits of that level. In addition, minimum annual donations automatically qualify you to receive $50 season tickets for football and men s basketball in the Blue Chip Young Alumni sections of the Donald W. Reynolds Center and H.A. Chapman Stadium, as well as the Season Ticket Pass for all remaining sports. With annual gifts of $2,000, $5,000, $10,000 or $20,000, the Leadership Council allows members to make an additional impact on TU Athletics through a five-year commitment of support. council Why it matters: Participation in the Leadership Council provides a more stable and predictable source of annual operating funding, allowing TU Athletics to strategically invest in the things that make it possible to provide a world-class experience for our student-athletes. 5

The 110% Club is made up of committed Golden Hurricane Club members who have increased their annual gift by at least 10% from the previous year, or any new member who contributes a minimum of $110. Why it matters: Since 2009 110% Club members have been responsible for more than $2.3 million in additional support to TU Athletics. Donor Spotlight: Pete Sandman TU is basically my school, and most of my extracurricular time is spent on campus. I m blessed with my job. I m just trying to make TU a good place for my staff along with students and parents. The 110% Club is a great opportunity for our family to go above and beyond in supporting TU s great student-athletes. Pete and Patti Sandman have been members of the Golden Hurricane Club since 1997. Sandman, TU s bursar, manages the university s business office where he is respected for his leadership and positive work attitude. An avid fan of Golden Hurricane athletics, he has become a familiar face in the Athletic Department, volunteering with the football team s equipment crew and helping out on the sidelines at every home game. He and his wife also are regular participants in the Susan G. Komen Foundation s Race for the Cure. The 1930 Society recognizes those generous the donors who make a four-year commitment of $25,000 or more annually to the Golden Hurricane Club and represents the pinnacle of private annual support to the Department of Athletics. soci e t y Why it matters: Members of The 1930 Society are responsible for more than 23% of annual dollars to the Golden Hurricane Club. 6

On average, more than two-thirds of the TU Athletic Department s operating budget is designated to support the student-athlete experience. Some of these costs, which include academic support, equipment, uniforms, game travel, enrichment and development activities and student-athlete insurance, are funded through your financial support of the Golden Hurricane Club. Scholarships are just a portion of what makes up the student-athlete experience. Your generosity helps pave the way to life-changing opportunities. When giving to the Golden Hurricane Club, consider your impact by supporting the full student-athlete experience.
