POSITION DESCRIPTION POSITION DETAILS: TITLE: STAFF RADIATION THERAPIST PROFESSION: RADIATION THERAPY REPORTS TO - OPERATIONALLY: Clinical Team Leaders Treatment/Pre-Treatment/Education PROFESSIONALLY: Professional Leader, Radiation Therapy LOCATION: Auckland City Hospital, Auckland District Health Board AUTHORISED BY: Allied Health Director, Cancer and Blood Directorate DATE: November 2017 PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Staff Radiation Therapist is an Allied Health professional providing accurate and efficient provision of Radiation Therapy to ensure that all patients receive the best possible care. In order to achieve the key accountabilities of the role, the Staff Radiation Therapist will be expected to work in conjunction with Radiation Therapy Clinical Team Leaders, Senior and Specialist Radiation Therapy Staff and members of the multidisciplinary team whilst demonstrating and modelling a high level of clinical expertise and professionalism. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: CLINICAL AND PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE Maintain clinical workload as dictated by rostered work area Participates as a member of the multidisciplinary team Comply with, apply and adhere to all legal requirements according to the Medical Radiation Technologists Board, Code of Ethics and the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act (2003) Adhere to ADHB, Directorate and Service clinical policies and procedures LEADERSHIP Assist in ensuring the performance of their designated work area is in line with the unit s operational business plan and ensure that any resource implications are highlighted to the appropriate Senior/Team Leader Participate in the provision of all aspects of Radiation Therapy planning and delivery in line with ADHB values. Communicate any operational performance requirements that fall within area of responsibility to the appropriate staff individually or collectively to ensure work practices are carried out safely Demonstrate teaching/coaching of students, staff and other healthcare professionals as appropriate
