Guest Biography Jie Yin ShanghaiTech University Prof. Jie Yin is the Vice President and Provost of ShanghaiTech University. Prof. Yin was a professor in Chemistry at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and served as the Vice President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University for education programs from 2004 to 2009. From 2009 to 2014, Prof. Jie Yin was Deputy Director- General of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission in charge of high education and vocational education. Among his many social activities, he is a standing member of Chinese Society of Academic Degrees and Graduate Education, a member of Chinese Society of Higher Education and a member of Chinese Experts Committee on Professional Certification of Engineering Education. During his academic career, Prof. Yin has published a number of research articles in the field of polymer materials and has won several awards for his outstanding teaching performance. Prof. Yin holds a bachelor s degree in polymer materials from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (1985) and a PhD degree in polymer science from Lancaster University, UK (1992).

Xiaoming Xie SIMIT, Chinese Academy of Sciences Dr. XIE Xiaoming was born in January 1965 in Xuyi County, Jiangsu Province. He was employed in July 1990 by the Shanghai Institute of Metallurgy (Renamed later as Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology - SIMIT), Chinese Academy of Sciences. He received his B. Sc degree from Wuhan University in 1985 and PhD degree at SIMIT in 1990. He became an assistant professor in SIMIT in July 1990, promoted to associate professor in December 1992 and full professor in December 1995. He worked in Ecole Superrieure de Physique et de Chimie Industrielles de la ville de Paris (ESPSCI), France as a visiting scholar from March 1993 to November 1995. He was appointed as a department manager in DaimlerChrysler SIM Tech. Co., Ltd. during 1995-2005. He worked as the vice dean of the State Key Laboratory of Functional Materials for Informatics Since May 2005, dean of the Laboratory of superconductivity since March 2014 and director assistant since June 2014. XIE Xiaoming became the deputy director of SIMIT since September 2015.

Tao Zhang Cisco Dr. Tao Zhang, an IEEE Fellow, is a Distinguished Engineer / Senior Director of Cisco Corporate Strategic Innovation Group. He joined Cisco in 2012 as the Chief Scientist for Cisco s Smart Connected Vehicles business, and has since also been leading initiatives to develop strategies, architectures, technology, and eco-systems for the Internet of Things (IoT) and Fog Computing. Prior to Cisco, he was Chief Scientist and Director of Mobile and Vehicular Networking at Telcordia Technologies (formerly Bell Communications Research or Bellcore). For over 25 years, Tao has been in various technical and executive positions, directing research and product development in vehicular, mobile, and broadband networks and applications. His leadership and technical work have led to ground-breaking results in fiber optic networks, all-ip cellular networks, mobile ad-hoc networks, and vehicular networks; resulting in new technology, standards, and products. Tao holds 50 US patents and has co-authored two books Vehicle Safety Communications: Protocols, Security, and Privacy (2012) and IP- Based Next Generation Wireless Networks (2004) published by John Wiley & Sons. Dr. Zhang co-founded, and is serving as a Board Director for, the Open Fog Consortium. He is the CIO and a Board Governor of the IEEE

Communications Society (2016 and 2017). Robert S. Fish Princeton University Robert S. Fish [SM] received his Ph.D. from Stanford University. Dr. Fish is on the faculty of Princeton University and is President of NETovations, LLC. From 2007 to 2010, he was Chief Product Officer and Senior VP at Mformation, Inc. From 1997 to 2007, Rob was Vice President and Managing Director of Panasonic US R&D laboratories. Previously, Rob was Executive Director, Multimedia Communications Research at Bellcore after starting his career at Bell Laboratories. Dr. Fish has numerous publications as well as 17 patents. Rob is currently ComSoc s VP-Industry and Standards Activities. He has served on the ComSoc Board of Governors. He was chair of the GLOBECOM and ICC Management and Strategy Committee (GIMS) where he created the current structure of the committee and reformed the site selection process. He was co-founder and steering committee chair of the Consumer Communications and Networking Conference (IEEE-CCNC) and serves on the founding Steering Committee of the Conference on Standards for Communications and Networking (IEEE-CSCN). Rob served on the BoG of the IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA), and was a founding member of the IEEE-SA Corporate

Advisory Group. His awards include the Multimedia Communications Technical Committee Distinguished Service Award and the IEEE SA s Standards Medallion. Yan Zhang University of Oslo, Norway Prof. Yan Zhang is Full Professor at the Department of Informatics, University of Oslo, Norway. He received a PhD degree in School of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He serves as an Associate Technical Editor of IEEE Communications Magazine, an Editor of IEEE Transactions on Green Communications and Networking, an Editor of IEEE Communications Surveys & Tutorials, an Editor of IEEE Internet of Things Journal, and an Associate Editor of IEEE Access. He serves as chair positions in a number of conferences, including IEEE GLOBECOM 2017, IEEE VTC-Spring 2017, IEEE PIMRC 2016, IEEE CloudCom 2016, IEEE ICCC 2016, IEEE CCNC 2016, IEEE SmartGridComm 2015, and IEEE CloudCom 2015. He serves as TPC member for numerous international conferences including IEEE INFOCOM, IEEE ICC, and IEEE GLOBECOM. He has seven ESI Highly Cited Papers. He is IEEE VTS (Vehicular Technology Society) Distinguished Lecturer. He serves as IEEE TCGCC Vice Chair. He is also a senior member of IEEE, IEEE ComSoc, IEEE PES, and

IEEE VT society. He is a Fellow of IET. His current research interests include: next-generation wireless networks leading to 5G, reliable and secure cyber-physical systems (e.g., smart grid, transport, and healthcare). Jianwei Huang Chinese University of Hong Kong Jianwei Huang (S'01-M'06-SM'11-F'16) is an Associate Professor and Director of the Network Communications and Economics Lab (ncel.ie.cuhk.edu.hk), in the Department of Information Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He received Ph.D. from Northwestern University in 2005, and worked as a Postdoc Research Associate at Princeton University during 2005-2007. His main research interests are in the area of network economics and games, with applications in wireless communications, networking, and smart grid. He is a Fellow of IEEE, a Distinguished Lecturer of IEEE Communications Society, and a Thomson Reuters Highly Cited Researcher in Computer Science. Dr. Huang is the co-recipient of 8 Best Paper Awards. He has co-authored six books. He received the CUHK Young Researcher Award in 2014 and IEEE ComSoc Asia-Pacific Outstanding Young Researcher Award in 2009. Dr. Huang has served as an Editor of IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking (2016-), Editor of IEEE Transactions

on Cognitive Communications and Networking (2015-), Editor of IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications (2010-2015), Editor of IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications - Cognitive Radio Series (2011-2014), Editor and Associate Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Communications Society Technology News (2012-2014). He is a frequent TPC member of leading networking conferences such as INFOCOM and MobiHoc. He is the recipient of IEEE ComSoc Multimedia Communications Technical Committee Distinguished Service Award in 2015 and IEEE GLOBECOM Outstanding Service Award in 2010.Outstanding Service Award in 2010. Lei Yang University of Nevada, Reno Lei Yang received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from Southeast University, Nanjing, China, in 2005 and 2008, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from the School of Electrical Computer and Energy Engineering at Arizona State University, Tempe, in 2012. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Nevada, Reno, NV, USA. He was a postdoctoral scholar at Princeton University, Princeton, NJ, USA, and an Assistant Research Professor with the School of Electrical Computer and Energy

Engineering at Arizona State University, Tempe. He has received the Best Paper Award Runner-up of IEEE INFOCOM 2014. Xu Chen Sun Yat-Sen University Dr. Xu Chen received the Ph.D. degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2012. From 2012 to 2014, Dr. Chen was a postdoctoral research fellow with Arizona State University, Tempe, USA. From April 2014 to Aug. 2016, he was with the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Goettingen, Germany, as a Humboldt Scholar. Currently he is a full professor with School of Data and Computer Science, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, China. He is the recipient of Thousand Young Talents Award by the Government of China, the prestigious Humboldt research fellowship awarded by Alexander von Humboldt-Foundation, 2014 Hong Kong Young Scientist Award Runner-Up by Hong Kong Institution of Science, Best Paper Runner-Up Award in IEEE ICC 2017, Best Paper Runner-Up Award in IEEE INFOCOM 2014, and Honorable Mention Award in IEEE ISI 2010.

Yang Yang SIMIT, Chinese Academy of Sciences Dr. Yang Yang is currently a professor with Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology (SIMIT), Chinese Academy of Sciences, serving as the Director of CAS Key Laboratory of Wireless Sensor Network and Communication, and the Director of Shanghai Research Center for Wireless Communications (WiCO). He is also a Distinguished Adjunct Professor with the School of Information Science and Technology, ShanghaiTech University. Prior to that, he has held faculty positions at University College London (UCL), Brunel University, and The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Yang is a member of the Chief Technical Committee of the National Science and Technology Major Project New Generation Mobile Wireless Broadband Communication Networks (2008-2020), which is funded by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of China. In addition, he is on the Chief Technical Committee for the National 863 Hi- Tech R&D Program 5G System R&D Major Projects, which is funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of China. Since January 2017, he has been serving the OpenFog Consortium as the Director for Greater China Region. Yang s current research interests include wireless

sensor networks, Internet of Things, Fog computing, Open 5G, and advanced wireless testbeds. He has published more than 150 papers and filed over 80 technical patents in wireless communications. Xiliang Luo ShanghaiTech University Prof. Xiliang Luo received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the Peking University, Beijing, China, in 2001, and his Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota at Minneapolis in 2003 and 2006, respectively. Xiliang Luo joined Qualcomm and carried out cutting edge researches in Qualcomm Research at different posts: senior engineer (2006), staff engineer (2010), and then senior staff engineer (2013). His work in Qualcomm included: system design, analyses, and standardization of 3GPP LTE starting from initial Rel-8 till Rel-11. He was the designer of various enhancements to Qualcomm s current LTE solutions and he led the designs of Qualcomm s next generation LTE modem for heterogeneous networks from initial concepts to final completion. In August 2014, Xiliang Luo joined the ShanghaiTech University as an Associate Professor in the School of Information Science and Technology. His general research interests lie in signal

processing, communications, and information theory. Till now, Xiliang Luo has published more than 50 research papers in top journals and conferences. Meanwhile, he is the (co)-inventor of more than 70 US and international patents, majority of which have been adopted into the LTE and LTE-Advanced standards.
