Terms and Conditions of the CDH Wellston Growth Scholarship 1. To be eligible to apply for The C D Hudson Association Scholarship, a student must be an enrolled member of the senior class of Wellston High School in the Wellston City School District, and must have maintained a 2.5 grade point average through the semester prior to the one in which the student applies for the scholarship. 2. The deadline for submitting the application to the Committee the current academic year shall be April 15 th. The Founder / Trustee resolves to make application forms available to the guidance counselor s office prior to the deadline for submission. Submissions are to be returned to the guidance counselor s office. 3. The amount of the Scholarship award shall be set at $5,000 yearly to be divided between two applicants chosen by the by the Committee and approved by the Founder / Trustee, the amounts may be increased upon the Founder / Trustee s decision. The Scholarship shall be renewed for a term of no more than 1 year as long as the student attends an accredited university, college or trade school and must maintain a 3.0 GPA or the institution s equivalent. Additionally, the student must commit to at least 40 hours of community service per year in Wellston City from the time of acceptance until the annual anniversary each year they receive the scholarship. 4. Recipients of The CDH Wellston Growth Scholarship shall be selected based on 1) the goal of the applicant, 2) the applicant s record of school and/or community service, 3) and a 300 to 500-word essay and /or plan highlighting the applicant s views on how to make Wellston a better community. 5. The recipient of the Scholarship shall be determined prior to the annual student awards ceremony and shall be announced at the student s award ceremony. The Founder / Trustee or a representative of the CDH Wellston Growth Scholarship to present the awards at the student awards ceremony; 6. The Superintendent will appoint a three-member Committee to review any and all submitted applications to select 3 finalists. The Committee will review submitted essays, take such other steps as may be necessary to evaluate the applicants, and make recommendations to the Founder/Trustee regarding the applicant(s) to be selected to receive the Scholarship in a given year; and to make recommendations to the Founder / Trustee concerning the procedures and terms applicable to the Scholarship, proposed changes in the deadlines for submission of applications and selection of recipients, the documentation required to be provided before disbursements of scholarship funds may be made to recipients and the schedule of payment of disbursements to recipient.
The Founder / Trustee further resolves to retain discretion to approve members of the Committee. The 3 Finalists shall be interviewed by the Founder / Trustee or their designated representative. 7. The Founder / Trustee further resolves that any CDH Wellston Growth Scholarship award shall be paid to the recipient in installments, one-half each semester. The Distributions to the Scholarship each semester for the year of the award, only upon receipt of an official bill or schedule showing that the Scholarship recipient is enrolled on a full-time basis. Verification of Community Service and GPA. The check will be issued directly to the award recipient. 8. The Founder / Trustees retains the right to update or change the terms of this Scholarship from time to time based upon advice from the WHS Superintendent or other conditions.
