MWWC s Training Goals Here at Missouri Water and Wastewater Conference we take water and wastewater safety quite seriously. Both for the communities that Water and Wastewater personnel serve, and for the operators that are providing the service. The instructors for our technical sessions include company representa ves, men and women who work in the field, as well as volunteers. Section Technical Programs Continued... Midwest Section East Central Section Water and Wastewater are very fast growing industries and are constantly increasing the demands that are placed upon operators. Employment of water and liquid waste treatment plant and system operators is expected to grow by 20 percent between 2008 and 2018, which is much faster than the average for all occupations. This lets us know that there is a great need for well staffed and well trained water operators in today s water and wastewater plants and companies. Missouri Water and Wastewater Conference intends to see that Missouri s professionals receive the training they need. Kingshighway St. Louis, MO Phone: 314/469-1901 x225 Email: sagnew@stlwater.com Did You Know? That there is no such thing as "naturally pure water". Pretty amazing, isn't it!! In nature, all water contains some impurities. As water flows in streams, sits in lakes, and goes through the layers of soil and rock in the ground, it dissolves or absorbs the substances that it touches. Some of these substances are harmless. In fact, some people prefer mineral water precisely because minerals give it an appealing taste. However, at certain levels minerals, just like man-made chemicals, are considered contaminants that can make water unpalatable or even unsafe. 4
