Pax Christi at CCUP is pleased to sponsor an educational presentation on Single Payer Health Care in Ohio on Sunday, February 17 immediately following the 11:00 AM Mass. The presenter is Johnathon Ross, MD MPH, Assoc. Prof. of clinical medicine at UT, teacher and practitioner of general internal medicine at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center and longtime member of the Single-Payer Action Network of Ohio. A single payer approach to health care is one of the proposals for fixing the imperfections of our current system. From the parish standpoint, this event is meant to be educational, not promotional. The goal is to foster an open and informative conversation on how to guarantee affordable, accessible, and quality health care in our country. Those who are suspicious of single payer health care are encouraged to attend to promote a balanced conversation.
From the Pastor I will be out of the office on vacation and for my sister's wedding from Tuesday, February 12th through Thursday, February 21st. If you leave me a voice message or send me an email, I will get back to you as soon as I can once I return. God Bless! Fr. Jeremy **Changes to Procedure for Receiving Donation Statements** Due to changes in the tax code, we have been advised that fewer people will be itemizing charitable contributions as deductions. Thus, we have decided to discontinue our practice of automatically sending out end of the year donation statements. If you would like a statement of your 2018 charitable gifts, please call or email our secretary Becky at bfournier@ccup.org. Please let her know if you would like the statement sent to you or if you would like to pick it up at church. Our bookkeeper Deacon Bob Fedynich will then prepare your donation statement. Thank you for your understanding on this matter. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Above all, thank you for all the generous gifts of time, talent, and treasure that you made to CCUP in 2018! Fr. Catholic Student Association Event Calendar Feel At home The Catholic presence at the University of Toledo University of Toledo UNDERGRADUATE Catholic Student Association (CSA) and GRADUATE STUDENT Newman Club: Did you know that if you are a Catholic at the University of Toledo, you are automatically a member of CSA or the Newman Club? The Catholic Student Association is one of the largest co-ed organizations on the University of Toledo s campus. Associated with Corpus Christi University Parish, it serves as the Catholic student organization on campus, fostering spiritual, social and academic growth. Check online or the weekly bulletin for updates, contact information and pictures. Sacraments of Initiation If you are a college student who was baptized Catholic, but did not receive either First Communion or Confirmation (or both), we offer at CCUP a condensed preparation process for receiving those outstanding Sacraments of Initiation. It involves about 3 or 4 meetings leading up to the reception of these sacraments. The date of the Confirmation ceremony is Saturday, March 23rd at 11 a.m. at Rosary Cathedral in downtown Toledo. For students interested in this program, please contact Fr. Jeremy at jmiller@ccup. org. Feel At home AT CORPUS CHRISTI UNIVERSITY PARISH we want our students to "feel at home." We want to not only be a resource for spiritual growth, worship and reflection, but also a place where you'll gather and meet great friends, have great times and gather great memories that will last a lifetime. Our community is welcoming and supportive. Our two student organizations - CSA (on Main Campus) and Newman Club (at the Health Science Campus) have many resources to support student life at the University of Toledo.
