Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving. Veterans Day celebrates the service of U.S. military veterans. Clinton Post 259 guest speakers, Dr. Vincent L. Moss Lt. Col. USAR, and Dr. Vance J. Moss Lt. Col. USAR gave a very emotional speech, and visual demonstration of their experience in Afghanistan. Their speech is a reminder for us to keep all our Veterans, active military, and their families in our prayers. LEGION COLLEGE: If you plan to attend the convention, and would like to participate in some of the courses in the Legion College, Contact the adjutant Bob Wilson. He will register you, at no cost. We would like to forward Information to you from National, and the Department of Maryland. LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP: Resolution 1, has been approved. Scholarship eligibility requirements are expanding. The amount of financial aid is increasing. Children of post 9/11 veterans with a disability rating of 50 percent or higher, are now eligible to apply. The Legacy Scholarship, will award up to $20.000 in aid. Changes will go into effect starting with the 2017 application. POST 259 CANTEEN: The club facilities herein known as the canteen, is a part of the social activities of the Post and directed and operated by the Executive Committee. It is the intent of the Executive Committee to provide a safe, clean, and enjoyable experience for every member. The rules governing conduct in the canteen are posted. They shall be adhered to at all times. 1

INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS: Installation of officers will be held on June 25, 2016 at 5:00 pm. Dinner is 6:00 pm. The ceremony will be at 7:00 pm. The fish fry held on May 14 th was a huge success. Thanks you to all of the Committee members who worked diligently and hard the day before preparing and the day of cooking and serving the hot fish. In addition, thank you all who supported this endeavor by purchasing dinners. At the April District meeting, Auxiliary Unit 259 was presented with a gift for making its goal and later in the week the membership chair, Liz White was advised by the Department that we not only made goal but goal plus. Thank you to all of the new members as well as the renewing members who decided to make Unit 259 their Auxiliary Post home. Remember the Auxiliary Spring Dance at the Post on June 9, 2016 from 6pm 10:00pm. Tickets are now on sale for $5.00. See any Auxiliary member for information on where to purchase tickets. Lastly, from the new officers list you see you have a new President residing at the September 12, 2016 meeting. Out of the six (6) years that I have been a member of Unit 259, I have been an officer for five (5) years. Therefore, I decided not to run for any office and to take a break. I will not be at the June 13 th meeting. I would like to thank all of you who supported me during my office tenure.
