T H E B E A R C A T M A R C H I N G B A N D 2013 Marching Season and Band Camp Information *All students/parents should read all information in this packet very carefully!! PLEASE READ ALL INFO CAREFULLY!

May 2013 Welcome to the Bearcat Marching Band... The Pride Of The State Students/Parents; It s time again to begin a new and exciting marching season for the Bearcat Marching Band. The show for this season is the music from James Bond. The music is entertaining, energetic and proves to be a fun and exciting show. In this packet of information you will find most everything needed to help you with your summer planning, rehearsals and of course, BAND CAMP. Please read and review all dates to become familiar with the schedule. All necessary forms are included and need to be returned to me by June 7th. If your instrument needs repair, there is an open time slot in June-July. All Instrumental students will need a Marching Flip Folder and a Marching Lyre for his/her instrument (available at Piper Repair the old Masteller Music), prior to the Pre-Camp schedule. I will be personally checking to make sure that all students have these items prior to camp. Those that do not will not be participating, and will not attend camp!! Summer Sectionals have been scheduled. All Band members should plan to attend these very important rehearsals. Students not attending may be replaced by alternates. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at school (213-3524) home (965-4428) cell (317-2986). Pre-Band Camp is scheduled for July 29th thru August 2nd h at the BCCHS Bandroom. During these days the fundamentals of marching style, preparation of music and reading drill charts will be covered. Students should plan to brown bag their lunch for these few days or bring a few dollars to get lunch downtown.

Band Camp is scheduled for August 5th -9th, and will be held at home again this year. We will use Both the C.W. Post Stadium and High School Music Center during the week. The students will learn the main show and will perform it at the end of camp (Friday, August 9 th following the potluck) All parents are invited to attend the potluck prior to the performance. Students should plan ahead to have a pair of NAVY BLUE SHORTS, WHITE SOCKS & WHITE TENNIS SHOES along with our Band Camp shirt (provided by boosters). This is our summer performance uniform which we will wear at the Band Camp performance. Because Band Camp is the production of our main show, all positions will be filled at camp. If you miss camp, you will not have a spot in the show and will be moved to alternate status. Band Camp Fee $100.00 total $150.00 total (includes the trip to Michigan Adventure on the 10th) DUE BY JULY 23rd to me, or can be mailed to the band booster Treasurer: Kellie Thomas 268 Garfield Ave. Battle Creek, MI 49017 The cost of Band Camp includes the cost of the hired Staff, Snacks, Breakfast items each day and Lunch each day. A band camp tee-shirt. If you think you qualify for financial assistance (those that are on free or reduced lunch program), there is Trust Fund Form in this packet. You would need to complete this form and return it to me no later than June 7 th to be considered for assistance. A trip to MICHIGAN ADVENTURE PARK on Saturday Aug. 10th has been added (extra fee). Checks should be made payable to: THE BEARCAT BAND BOOSTER ORGANIZATION. All payments must be made prior to attending camp.

Chicago Trip $414.00 total Tuesday, November 26th Thursday November 28th This trip includes: 2 night Stay at the Sheraton Hotel, Deluxe Chartered Bus Transportation, Shedd Aquarium visit & Lunch, Old Navy Pier visit & Shopping, Medieval Time Dinner Show, Lincoln Park Zoo visit, Downtown Chicago Pizza Joint Lunch, Semi-Formal Dinner Dance & Awards Ceremony, Full Buffet Breakfast Thanksgiving Day Morning before Parade.
