Mission & Impact Statements Mission Our mission has been to collect our county's history for the Cheatham County Museum. Background The Cheatham County Historical and Genealogical Association (CCHGA) was organized in April 1997. The aim of CCHGA is to instill a sense of pride in the community and pursue family histories to benefit future generations of Cheatham Countians as well as its present membership. Impact CCHGA has accomplished much since its formation, including the rescue and organization of old county records that were in the attic of the courthouse and library basement into usable county archives. It was also instrumental in the creating of an official Cheatham County flag, the erection of historical markers on the courthouse lawn and other areas of significance in the count and the publication in 2001 of the Cheatham County, Tennessee History and Families. CCHGA presently has chapters in Ashland City, Pleasant View, Pond Creek and Lillamay/Sam s Creek (PALS) and Kingston Springs. CCHGA is currently involved in gaining recognition for buildings and historical sites in the county by the National Register of Historical Places and working to establish the Cheatham County Museum which is located in the lower level of the Cheatham County Public Library, along with the CCHGA office space provided by the county, where family and community history is available for public research Needs Our primary needs are for additional display cases to protect historic items.
